High school track team beats Nampa in season debut

Mountain Home hosted Nampa in a dual track meet to kick off its track season Friday and won both the girls and boys competition.

Mountain Home dominated the girls competition,winning all 18 events and racking up 137 points to just 8 for Nampa.

Dakota Barrie was in on four first-place finishes, winning both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, and also was a member of the winning 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Jordan Vivier won the 800-meter, along with the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs. Shelby Henrick won the 200-meter dash, was a member of the winning 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays, and finished second in the 400-meter dash.

Marissa Streeter won the triple jump and was a member of the 4x100 and medley relay teams.

Keesha Janis-Gibson was a double winner, taking first in both the shot put and discus.

Tracey Gordon won the 400-meters and was also a member of the winning 4x100- and 4x200-meter relays.

Jessica Tindall was a member of the winning 4x100-, 4x200- and 4x400-meter relay teams and also had a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash.

Ashley Harmon won the 100-meter dash and was also a member of the winning medley relay team.

Haley Schaefer was on the winning medley relay team and was second in the 800-meter run and the long jump.

Christina Segovia won the pole vault and was second in the 100-meter hurdles.

Madison Batchelor won the high jump and was second in the pole vault.

Kacee Cameron won the long jump.

Vanessa Estrella was a member of the winning 4x200-meter relay, and finished third in the 400-meter dash and the long jump.

McKenzie Sandberg was a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team and Chloe Baul was a member of the winning medley relay team.

Katie Urquidi finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter hurdles.

Shelbie Toenjes was second in the discus and third in the shot put.

Natalie Feekes was second in the high jump, Jhorie Kelly was second in the triple jump and Kristen Kreutzer was second in the shot put.

Heather Williams had third-place efforts in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Other third-place finishes went to Sarah Richens in the 3200, Aerial Groene in the 300-meter hurdles, Samantha Rogers in the pole vault, Jaisyn Sarrett in the triple jump and Leann James in the discus.

Mountain Home won the boys competition 85-56.

J.T. Cristobal won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Alexander Ling won the 110-meter hurdles and high jump, and was second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Tyler Knauth won the 400-meter dash and was second in the 1,600-meter run.

Dylan Johnson won the 3,200-meter run and was second in the 1,600.

Jeff Checketts won the shot put.

Ricky Castillo was a member of the winning 4x400-meter and medley relay teams.

Austin Lisonbee was a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team and also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles.

Colby Hall was a member of the winning medley relay team for Mountain Home, finishing second in the 800-meter run and third in the pole vault.

Conner McClellan and Jeremy Wussow were also members of the winning 4x400-meter relay team, and Nick Garza and Juan Silva were both members of the winning medley relay team.

Curtis Jackson was second in the discus and third in the shot put.

David Katsules was second in the 400-meter dash.

Michael Price was second in the 3,200 meter run, Payton Cline was second in the high jump, Perry Savage was second in the pole vault and John Payton was second in the 200-meter dash.

Third-place efforts went to Jake Schaefer in the high jump, Chaise Hopkins in the long jump and Raymond Aflague in the discus.

Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with their first effort of the season.

"Everybody ran really pretty well for the first meet. Some new people got some experience, so that was good. A lot of people scored and got some varsity points, so the coaches were really happy. We saw some pretty good things that we can build off of, as we go to Bishop Kelly on Thursday and just keep continuing the season going on."

The Tigers run at Bishop Kelly tomorrow with action getting underway at 4:30 p.m.
