The Mountain Home Lady Tigers opened their SIC 4A conference schedule with wins over Bishop Kelly and Emmett last week.

Mountain Home 7, Bishop Kelly 5

Mountain Home battled from behind to take the lead from Bishop Kelly last Tuesday and then held on for a 7-5 win at Memmelaar Field in Mountain Home.

Bishop Kelly struck for three runs in the top of the third inning to open up the scoring for the game, but Mountain Home countered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 lead.

"We gutted out a good win, kind of a scrappy win there," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger softball coach Chris Asbury after the game. "That's a much-improved BK ball club than we've seen in the past, but these girls are growing up. We're going to make some mistakes and we're going to learn our lessons along the way, and if we can eek out wins like this... I'm proud of that."

Madison Siefferman led the Mountain Home squad with three hits. Courtney Christiansen and Heather Adams both had two hits and two RBIs. Adams also had a double.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn Sheehy, Madi Karst, Rachel Warila and Alex Stenvold also had hits for the Lady Tigers. Sheehy and Warila both knocked in a run. Heather Adams struck out six and scattered six hits to improve to 3-1.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, but Mountain Home struck for three runs in both the second and third, and two more in the fourth, to build up a 10-2 lead. Emmett scored three in the bottom of the fourth to make it 10-5.

The Lady Tigers put the game out of reach with a seven-run seventh inning and Emmett only managed one in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 17-6 final.

"It was nice to see us hit the ball and score some runs," said Coach Asbury. "Our experienced players stepped up and led the way."
