WECRD boosts grant initiative

Friday, March 4, 2011

The Western Elmore County Recreation District stepped up its efforts to help non-profit youth sports and recreation programs in the local area by channeling extra funding into its grant initiative.

During a public meeting Feb. 23, the district's board of directors voted to add another $3,000 into its Let's Play grant program this year.

Marking its first anniversary here, the initiative aims to "enhance the quality of existing non-profit youth recreation programs in western Elmore County," the district said in an official statement.

So what about diverting some of the money to support the initiative to expand and improve the baseball fields and such, or am I wrong for what the WECRD acronym stand for....

  • A very small token of their appreciation for 10 years of taxes. They collect nearly 500K in taxes per year and are proud of this? Really ladies? You folks spend 10 times this amount to run an office that is open 3 days per week for 4 hours.

Kudos for the token donation to the youth of this community. Now let us do the math...what TINY portion of the annual budget does this insulting amount represent compared to $750.00 Board photos, 3K for AFAD, $850.00 on window clings, etc.?
