Crumblin' down

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Demolition crews finish dismantling the former Western Elmore County Recreation District headquarters on North 3rd East Street on Nov. 30.

The building was the first facility at the East Jackson Street intersection to come down to make way for a new fellowship hall for the local Catholic community.

The project follows nearly a year of debate that included multiple revisions and compromises that eventually paved the way for the 14,000 square foot building. Located next to the existing church downtown, the new ministry building will give the church needed space for a fellowship area, administration offices and classrooms along with more parking. • I don't have a problem with churches and religious groups, but I do have a problem with the abundance of them. I can understand tearing and old building down for new businesses. But why replace it with a church? Churches aren't employing the unemployed. Why not bring some revenue to the small town of Mountain Home instead of praying to an imaginary figure in the sky? Like I said I don't mind religion at all, in fact, think its fantastic for those who do practice religion. But I'd rather see a hungry family eat, then a non struggling family speak their beliefs on the way of life in a church.

  • Too bad the WECRD did not get torn down with em. Enjoy those tax increases for the next 15-20 years at 3% per year being proposed.

Hope it is all worth it for those wonderful puss vats of disease and infection run by a bunch of idiots. I hope it is all worth it...
