The Mountain Home Tigers boys soccer team dropped their first two games of season last week with losses to Skyview and Columbia.

Skyview 4, Mountain Home 1

The Tigers gave Skyview a battle but had trouble getting the ball in the net last Monday as they dropped their first boys soccer game of the season, 4-1, to Skyview at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Francisco Dominguez scored Mountain Home's lone goal late in the ball game. Jack Richelieu and Tomas Guillen combined for 12 saves on goal.

Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh thought his guys played better than the final score indicated.

"It just sort of came down to the fact we couldn't get the ball in the net," he said. Skyview's good, but they're not the powerhouse that they have been in the past. We just made a couple mistakes, and they make you pay for your mistakes."

Columbia 3, Mountain Home 2

Mountain Home hosted Columbia in conference soccer on Wednesday at Eastside Park and came up a goal short, losing 3-2.

Mountain Home scored to come within one late in the game and scored another apparent goal minutes later, but the referee ruled it not good, due to a Columbia penalty on the play, apparently prior to the ball going into the net. The Tigers attempted a penalty kick but it was no good as Columbia held on for the win.

"That's a tough loss -- a hard one to swallow," said Coach Walsh "We tied it up -- the ref should have played the advantage -- he called it back. You don't miss many (penalty kicks), but we missed that one, so that's a tough loss.

"We didn't play our best... but we've got some things we've got to get figured out," he added

Blake Pachner scored a goal off an assist by Francisco Dominguez, and Dominic Torres scored off an assist by Jalen Gibbons. Jack Richelieu and Tomas Guillen combined for 10 saves on goal.

The Tigers took a 1-2-1 record into Tuesday's game at Middleton and host Kuna today, Sept. 8.
