Law officers step up DUI patrols for Labor Day

Thursday, August 26, 2010

With Labor Day less than two weeks away, law enforcement officers in Elmore County and across Idaho will step up efforts to identify and arrest intoxicated drivers.

The high-visibility impaired driving enforcement campaign starts Friday and continues through Sept. 7 as part of a nationwide education and enforcement effort targeting drunken driving.

By increasing patrols, officers expect to arrest more drunk drivers and make the holiday weekend safer for motorists, according to Kevin Bechen, a spokesman from the Idaho Department of Transportation's highway operations and safety office.
