State to withhold more Senior Center funding

The Mountain Home Senior Center has taken another funding hit from the state.

The State Department of Health and Welfare has announced that Medicaid payments for home meal deliveries -- known as Meals on Wheels -- through senior centers and other facilities in Idaho, will be suspended for the last three weeks in June. The payments will resume again when the new fiscal year begins in July.

Last year, Central District Health Department ended decades of subsidies for congregate meals and Meals on Wheels at area senior centers, citing budget constraints.

  • How can this be????? There's plenty of money for anchors to get WIC, healthcare, foodstamps, etc., but our seniors have to give up this? Wrong. WRONG WRONG WRONG.
