Wizard of Oz opens Friday

Wednesday, July 8, 2009
The good witch Glinda meets Dorothy and sends her on toward the Emerald City.

The youth summer theater production of "The Wizard of Oz," a non-musical version of the story by L. Frank Baum, will be presented at the Mountain Home High School gym July 10-11 at 7 p.m. and July 11 at 1 p.m.

Adult tickets are $5 and $3 for students for the "Page Theatre" production of the classic story about Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Besides providing all the actors, students also will operate the lights and sound, and have prepared the sets and costumes. The play is being organized by Taunya Page, director of the Mountain Home High School Theatre Department, as an effort to keep youth involved in thespian activities during the summer.
