Parks and Rec offers swimming skill classes

Parks and Recreation is now offering swimming classes, from level one (basic skills) to level six (power, distance skills).

Each class is limited to five students and there are several sessions offered for the most needed instruction.

Register for the session the Thursday or Friday before the session week begins.

*Session 1 June 8 to June 18

*Session 2 June 22 to July 2

*Session 3 July 6 to July 16

*Session 4 July 20 to July 30

*Session 5 August 3 to August 13

Classes are $18 per session. Primary classes are for children 4-5 years-old and Regular classes are for children 6 years and older.

Also available is an Hydro Aerobics class, which involves aerobics in the water that reduces stress on your body.

Parent Tot (infants 6 months through 3 years) is an eight-week course that teaches basics for infants.

If you would like adult lessons, you need to add your name to the interest list at the Parks and Recreation office.

The city pool also is available for private pool parties. A pool rental agreement must be filled out and payment made to the Parks and Recreation office before reservations are scheduled. Times and prices are:

* $50 for Friday, Saturday, Sunday 5:15-6:45 p.m.

* $80 for Friday, Saturday 9:15-11 p.m.

The fee includes lifeguards, water rockets, diving rings, basketballs, and kick boards.

Some themed pool parties open to the public are scheduled for June 25 (Beach Bum theme) and July 30 (Super Heros theme). The parties will run from 9-11 p.m. for ages 13 to 17 years old.

The Senior Hydro Aerobics class, dedicated to seniors only, starts June 12 and is held every Friday from 1-1:45 p.m. Cost is $1.
