Tiger track and field win quadrangular meet

Mountain Home ran away with both the girls and boys competition at a quadrangular home track meet last Thursday.

The Mountain Home girls racked up 137 points to far out-distance second place Mountain View's 87 points. Nampa was third with 72, and Timberline had 12 points.

Dakota Barrie was a big winner for Mountain Home, winning both the 100-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles, along with the high jump.

Jasmyn Jewett won the long jump and triple jump and was second in the high jump.

Shelby Posey won both the shot put and discus.

Jessica Liercke won the 100 meters, was second in the triple jump, and a member of the 4x100 (along with Angie Rios, Jasmyn Jewett and Jessica Tindall) and 4x200 (Tindall, Lauren Moore and Kristie Sigloh) relays that took first.

Haley Schaefer won the 800 and was second in the 3200-meter run.

Jordan Vivier won the 3200, was third in the 800 and fifth in the 1600 meters.

Kristie Sigloh finished first in the 200, and besides the 4x200 relay, was a member of the winning medley relay (with Jessica Tindall, Lauren Moore and Shelby Henrick).

Second-place efforts went to Shelby Henrick in the 200 meters, Christina Segovia in the pole vault, and Shelbie Toenjes in the discus.

Jasmyne Moore had third-place efforts in both hurdles.

Kacee Cameron was third in the 400 and fifth in the triple jump.

Keesha Janis was third in the shot put and fifth in the discus.

Angie Rios finished third in the 100 meters.

Fifth-place efforts went to Ashley Mayberry in the 800 meters, Brittany Orie in the 100-meter hurdles, Emily Cook in the pole vault, Alyssa Sato in the long jump and Regina Rodriguez in the shot put.

Mountain Home rolled up 134 points in the boys competition. Mountain View was second with 85, Nampa had 40 and Timberline seven.

Garrett Wood won the 300-meter hurdles, the pole vault, the long jump, and was second in the triple jump.

Tyree Harmon won the 110-meter high hurdles, was second in the 300 meter hurdles, fourth in the long jump, and a member of the first place 4x200-meter relay team (along with Juan Silva, Kyle Kerfoot and Tallon Pauly).

Billy Derome won the shot put and was second in the discus.

Jacob Allies won the triple jump, was third in the high jump and fourth in the 400.

Juan Silva won the 200 meters, and besides the 4x200-meter relay was also on the 4x100-meter relay team (with Jacob Viola, Stefen White and Tallon Pauly) that finished second.

Tyler Knauth won the 400 and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (with Ricky Castillo, Luke Filipovich and DeVonte McClain) that finished second.

Jake Lewis won the discus.

The Tiger medley relay team (Tommy Miller, Kyle Kerfoot, Nick Stover and DeVonte McClain) finished first.

Stefen White finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles and was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Other second-place efforts went to Ricky Castillo in the 400 and Stephen Bush in the pole vault.

Third-place efforts went to Jacob Viola in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Taylor Croft in the 3200 meters, and Tallon Pauly in the long jump. Pauly also had a fifth-place finish in the 100.

Fourth-place finishes went to Dylan Johnson n both the pole vault and 3200, DeVonte McClain in the 800, Chaise Hopkins in the high jump and James Simon in the triple jump.

Fifth-place efforts went to Tommy Miller in the 200, Joe Russell in the 400 and Jesus Juarez in the 3200.

Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with the efforts at the home meet.

The Tiger thinclads go to Twin Falls for a meet this Friday. The District Track Meet is May 7-8 at Kuna.

"We have one more meet left before district, and we're getting people where we think they need to have them so we can be competitive in district and qualify some people for state," said Coach Urquidi.
