The Mountain Home Lady Tigers were eliminated from the District III 4A Girls JV Basketball Tournament at Skyview with their opening round loss to Bishop Kelly on Jan. 31.

A scoreless second quarter helped lead to the Lady Tigers' downfall as they lost to Bishop Kelly 54-18.

Mountain Home trailed the Lady Knights 16-8 after a quarter and failed to score in the second as they fell behind 32-8. They managed just three points in the third period as Bishop Kelly upped its lead to 48-11.

Keesha Janis led Mountain Home in scoring with eight points, Jennica Quintal added five, Lindsay Sessions scored three and Arlene Futch had two points.

Mountain Home Lady Tigers JV coach Stehvn Tesar reflected back on the season that did not see a whole lot of wins come their way.

"We were kind of limited on improving from last year and our scorers moving up on varsity, and injuries kind of plagued us a little bit, so we were playing with seven girls most of the season and most of them were about 5' 2", so gravity wasn't too nice to them.

"But the girls never gave up, they had a lot of heart, and that's all you can ask for, especially in a long season like that. I'll give them credit for that. Unfortunately, the win column didn't look so good."
