Lori Brick has been named as the new interpretive specialist at Bruneau Dunes State Park.
Brick, who was born and raised in Stewartville, Minn., is a graduate of Minnesota State University, where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Recreational Parks and Leisure Services.
Brick has previously worked as an interpretive ranger at Mount Rushmore during the Summer of 2007, as a YMCA Camp Counselor in Oklahoma and as a winter camping instructor for the Boy Scouts in northern Minnesota.
In her new position, Brick is responsible for supervising the public observatory at the park, creating trail information and designing interpretive panels depicting the history, the habitat, the wildlife and plants in the area, and providing an interpretive program at the park along with an outreach interpretive program at the local schools.
In the future, Brick, along with park ranger Matt Cooper, hopes to complete an entire species list of the animals and plants at the park, a project that Brick expects to take a year to complete.
Currently, Brick is enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard.
In her spare time, Brick enjoys to camp, hike, fish and travel. In her travels, Brick has visited Tanzania and Belize.
"I look forward to working with kids and interacting with people, because I am kind of a people person. I want the kids to enjoy learning and experiencing nature through me," she said.
