Absentee ballots available
Absentee ballots for the November elections are now available from the Elmore County Clerk's office.
Written requests received at the clerk's office for absentee ballots are being mailed out now.
Voters cannot request an absentee ballot over the phone. The absentee ballot request must be in writing and it must contain: their printed name, their home address (no PO Box, it must be their physical home address), the address to mail their ballot (if it is different than their home address), and their signature. The signature is extremely important because the clerk would need to compare it to the signature on their voter registration card to verify that it is actually the voter requesting the absentee ballot and not someone committing voter fraud.
On Oct. 6, ballot booths were set up and "in person" absentee balloting began at the courthouse.
A number of key election deadlines are rapidly approaching.
Oct. 10 is the deadline to pre-register for the Nov. 4 general election.
Registration on election day is available.
Oct. 21 is the last day for write-in candidates to file a declaration of intent, if they wish to have their votes counted during the election.
Oct. 29 is the last day for applications for mail-in absentee ballots to be received by the county clerk no later than 5 p.m. that day.
The last day for an application for an "in Person" absentee ballot is Nov. 3 at 5 p.m.
