Crazee Daze events starts Thursday

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

The 42nd annual Crazee Daze merchant's promotion will be held this Saturday, May 17.

Most of the events will be held downtown but due to last-minute problems involving Union Pacific Railroad, which owns Railroad Park, the Royal West Amusements Carnival site has been moved from the park to the former Dennis Dillon/Mountain Home Auto Ranch parking lot on Airbase Road. The carnival will be operating Thursday and Friday beginning at 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday beginning at noon.

"We really want to thank Todd McCurry," owner of the lot and the Mountain Home Auto Ranch, "for making his lot available to us at the last minute," said Coleen Swenson, a member of the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce Merchants Committee, which is sponsoring the event.

Downtown activities will feature 50 booths, mostly consisting of food and crafts.

The entertainment lined up for Crazee Daze will include performances from the Optimist Cheerleaders (11-11:30 a.m.), the Mountain Home Step Team (11:30-11:45 a.m.) a fashion show sponsored by Maurice's (11:45 a.m. to noon), a pet costume contest sponsored by Katie's Photo Express (12:30-1 p.m.), musical entertainment by "Rattlesnake Creek." (1-2 p.m.) and the ECHO folkloric dancers (2:30 p.m.), The entertainment stage is set up on East Second North Street, adjacent to the Chamber of Commerce office.

U.S. Ecology will have a booth at Crazee Daze. They will be the sponsor for a silent auction with the proceeds going to the Mountain Home Cheer Basket and the Chamber's Giving Tree effort. Cheer Basket provides food and the Giving tree provides presents for needy families at Christmas.

The items up for bidding include tickets to Roaring Springs, an "Enchanted Evening" package (one dozen roses, Ice World tickets, and an Anniversary Inn evening), a "Camping Extravaganza" package and a "Spoiled Rotten" package (tanning, massage and a Tempur-Pedic pillow) among others.

Advance tickets for the Royal West Amusements carnival will be on sale for $12 at the following locations: Paul's Market, Idaho Independent Bank, Mountain Home News, Chamber of Commerce, Taco John's, Grindes and Moxie Java.

A limited number of advance tickets will be available until 3 p.m. on May 15 or until supplies last. The tickets are not refundable.

The Chamber carnival is offering a $5 discount coupon good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The coupons will be good for on site Unlimited Ride Pay One Price (POP) discounts. Additional discounts could found by going to www.FunNbiz.com.

  • Royal West Amusements, isn't that the same company that reneged on their agreement to provide their services at the Elmore County Fair last year? I believe that they pulled out at the last minute to do an event in Caldwell leaving the Fair Board with no time to find a replacement carnival provider.

No Thanks, Royal West Amusements will not be getting a dime from me or my family this year.
