Discipline needed at MHJHS

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Dear editor:

Hello, my name is Jacquie, I'm 13 and a student at MHJHS. I would like to express some of my concerns about our school.

Our school is not perfect. Like many schools we have gang problem, drug problems and a lot of violent fights.

The biggest problem we have is bullying. We have many students at the junior high who are bullied. The bullying that is happening at the junior high is not normal bullying of "you're ugly" or "you're stupid," there's more. There are at least three or four physical fights a week.

The main problem is that we do not get punished properly! The student handbook calls for a certain number of days but, this is not enforced.

We need more discipline and more supervision. Not only do we need our principals to step up and change the way the school operates but, we need the community to step up. It can help make a change by supporting the school and the disciplinary decisions the school makes!

Thank you for taking your time to read this.
