Wednesday, August 29, 2007

This year many new hunters will pack up their gear and head up to the high country for their first hunting experience.

Nearly 125 new hunters received hunter safety training, through Idaho's, Department of Fish and Game's Hunter Safety Program for the Mountain Home area in 2007.

The program stresses the importance of guns safety, hunting rules and regulations, basic hunting skills, and sportsman values. Their training consisted of 17 hours of textbook curriculum and 3 additional hours of field and firing range instruction. Classes are provided by a group of volunteers, through the City of Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Department.
