Letter to the Editor

Critics just get hammered

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Dear editor:

If Paul Revere was alive today, he'd probably be jailed as a public nuisance. The patriot of yesterday is the radical of today.

Through countless letters to newspapers, letters and phone calls to senators and congressmen, one-on-ons conversations with people on the street and e-mail contacts, my goals of waking people up around here have basically turned into an exercise in futility.

There are a lot of booksmart educated folks out there. Einstein was a genius. He made up numbers so high only a dog could bear them, but they had to paint his front door red so he could find his own house. Fact. As Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) once said, "Common sense isn't too common."

I used to think Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" segment was just a spoof.

Not so. "Did you hear the news? World War III just started "Great!"

I'll bring my snowplow" This is basically what I'm hearing out there. You can educate to a degree, but you can't teach common sense. It's either there or it isn't.

Kind of like if your house caught fire and only one guy shows up. He explains to you that your particular home was built with materials that were subcontracted from, Brazil, and the varnish came from Ethiopia without proper tariff, because of some bill Harry Truman vetoed back in 1950. That bit of knowledge might be worth a thousand dollars on Jeopardy, but meanwhile, your house just burnt to the ground.

Over this past year alone, while earnestly trying to get people focused on what is actually going on in our nation and what to do about it before we're bulldozed out of existence, here is what I'm met with:

JFK was killed because he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe. The holocaust never happened, just an MGM film production to fool the public. Arabs don't cross our borders with the illegals because they can't make it across the ocean. The Democrats don't want to confiscate our guns, you're just being prejudice. You need to support the President, no matter what be does.

I've learned about the Skull & Bones Society, the Bilderburgers, how the French-Indian wars eventually led to National Park sellouts to the Japanese. This past week alone, I've learned how producer Michael Moore, who in my mind should be shot for treason, is really some kind of good guy. I also know a lot more about Canola oil than I knew last year. OK. Fine. Tell it to Alex for 400.

Reality check, people, AMERICA IS ABOUT TO GO UNDER, despite whatever Paris Hilton is doing this week... oh heck, why go into it. I've had enough of this and don't need the continued aggravation.

I DO want to praise the only unbiased editor I've ever heard of. Thank you Kelly, not just for the letter space you've given me, but for not being afraid or ashamed to publicly stand up and be counted, for the REAL American that you are. Semper Fi, brother.

And to the rest of you I say.... goodbye... unless "Adios" is more proper these days.

Mike Bradbury
