The Mountain Home Tigers battled Kuna tough on the tennis courts at Mountain Home Air Force Base last Monday, but come up short, 5-7, to the Kavemen in conference tennis.

In boys singles, Jordan Niksich overpowered his #1 Kuna opponent, Kevin Lundergan, 6-1, 6-1, avenging an earlier loss at Kuna.

"I was very excited about this win," said Mountain Home Tiger tennis Coach Tamzy House.

"Jordan lost to Kevin in three sets the fist time they met. This is a good confidence-building win for Jordan."

Justin Richins and Joshua Lewis fought hard but lost the #2 and #3 boys singles matches in straight sets.

In girls singles, Nora Fischer lost the #1 singles in straight sets, but Julie Remington and Laura Lothrop both won in #2 and #3 singles.

Mountain Home swept the girls doubles matches, as Breanna White and Daryl Enriquez won at #1 in three sets, and Christina Gutierrez and Tara Brandenburg took the #2 match in straight sets.

In boys doubles, Jason Ward and Joey Miller lost at #1 and Thomas and Andrew Martin lost at #2, both in straight sets.

In mixed doubles, Keenan Galloway and Samantha Martinez lost at #1, 2-6, 2-6, and Keth Galloway and Annie Bledsoe lost at #2, 2-6, 3-6.

The Tigers had their troubles at Caldwell last Thursday, losing to the Cougars, 10-2, in conference tennis.

"It was a tough trip," said Coach House. "We came ready to battle, but Caldwell just out-skilled us in most of the matches."

Mountain Home's only two wins were by forfeit, as Tara Brandenburg and Christina Gutierrez won at #2 girls doubles, and Keth Galloway and Annie Bledsoe won by default in the #2 mixed doubles.

"Keth and Annie did get to play an 8-game pro set against a Caldwell secondary team and won that match. Unfortunately it does not add to the team score," said Coach House.

In boys singles, Jordan Niksich and Justin Richins lost the #1 and #2 matches in straight sets, but Joshua Lewis battled tough, losing in three, 1-6, 6-3, 2-6.

In girls singles, Laura Lothrop battled tough in the #3 match, losing a close 5-7, 4-6 match.

Norah Fischer and Julie Remington lost at #1 and #2 in straight sets.

In boys doubles, Jason Ward and Joey Miller lost the #1 in straight sets, as did Thomas and Andrew Martin in the #2 match.

Breanna White and Daryl Enriquez lost the #1 girls doubles match in straight sets, as did Keenan Galloway and Samantha Martinez in #1 mixed doubles.
