I've lived in Mtn Home since 1989, so that's...hold on...I'm thinking...WOW! Exactly 25 years! Boy, I think I can almost declare myself an Idahoan. But my family is British and I grew up in Louisiana around lots of other Brits so I still think I'm a little bit of a mutt. Those of you who have been around awhile may remember when I used to blog all the time. My opinions weren't very accepted and there was always an issue because I work for the county. That really wasn't fair because I NEVER blog at work! And I am still entitled to my opinions and thoughts about city and county issues, right? However, it stirred a lot of pots and those pots certainly can make a lot of noise! Since I'm a writer, I took what I wrote in my blog seriously so I spent a lot of time researching things which got exhausting to do when you're not even get a paycheck for it. So I stopped. That was a blessing to many! However, to this day, I still have people stop me and ask me why I wasn't blogging and t! hey missed it. I've missed it. Mainly because there are so many issues that come up and I have no voice except around my friends and I'm sure they are tired of it.

Obama promised to get people back to work. Yet real unemployment is looming at about 16% when you consider all those who are sitting idle who worked as rig operators and others connected to drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska's coast. Apparently, Obama doesn't think that our own people deserve to work in this industry. He doesn't want oil drilling or all the jobs and businesses that work with it to prosper. And he certainly doesn't want us to be less dependent on other countries. Instead, he ignores his own country to go to Brazil and romance them.

"We want to work with you. We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and when you're ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers." Said Obama to the largest oil company in Brazil. He offers billions in loans, money we don't have, to develop the technology.

Once again, our fine President has betrayed his country and shown disdain for his people. While unemployment in the oil industry and all the business who work along side of that industry sit idle, wasting away, Obama ignores their cries. Afterall, those people can't be trusted to do the job! They can't produce the oil this country needs! Instead, it makes more sense to borrow more money from China and give it to another country so that they can do what Americans could be doing. That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

Here is what Obama really wants for America. He wants to force us into becoming a "Green" country even if that destroys our economy and tanks the American dollar. The Canada Free Press stated, "stuff like this, if it wasn't so seriously stupid, it might be hilariously funny."

I find the continuence of that question insulting at best. NO other presidents birth has been questioned like this if ever.mc cain was born in PANAMA.ON A MILITARY INSTALLATION....usually that at best makes you a dual citizen....how come no questions????????

I like the fact that Donald has the opportunity to ask questions that have gotten buried by the media.

When Sarah Palin was selected to run for VP, the media crawled under as many rocks as they could find for dirt on her. We didn't see that level of scrutiny for Obama.

We can't be giving away money to other countries when we are so deeply in debt. It is like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

In the meantime, I hope that Donald continues to ask those hard questions that no one else bothered to ask prior to the 2008 election. I might not vote for him for President, but I like the fact that he is able to get the air time.

Lamont, I agree partially with you. It's almost of no interest...except it has become interesting that he won't 'fess up the document. I'd almost say no big deal but....hmmmmmmmmmmm....I'm proud to be an American, and I'd be proud to show you my birth certificate any time. Yeah, it's kind of private, but I have it, and can show it. I'd think the President of the United States of America would also be proud to show his, and let those that question, rest appeased. It's only a big deal, because it's become a big deal.

We now have to submit our birth certificates to obtain a driver's license, even though we have had one for years. If we have to prove that we are American Citizens, then why can't we question the authencity of a birth certificate.

The problem with all of this is that Obama has not in any way united this country. And don't blame the right wing for this, He and His VP, have come out with some outrageous statements and have been patted on the back.

A president who will not lead, spends money like water and doesn't seem to care about Americans, is not up for the job.

Marilyn, I think you're also right. I'm gonna bet Obama's has been "all kinds of scrutinized" and I'm gonna bet it's sooo likely he's American. But someone asked, and it's only become such a big deal, cuz he's been uncooperative. Maybe he's just being stubborn. Who knows. My Mom says I'm stubborn, and if pushed by gosh, I might just dig my heels in to be uncooperative. Yep, I'm that way. The President of our United States of America really doesn't have that kind of luxury, I wouldn't think. He works for us, sposed to anyway. And again, I'd show that document proudly, cuz I am an American.

Silly question? Maybe. Easy Solution? Should be.

How many other Presidents do you know have had to show their birth certificates to the public? I have never seen a presidents birth certificate until Obama became president...

I don't know of any Marilyn but if asked, they'd have to also. It's just the way.

I have no clue about most of this. I'm not extremely political. But I do believe in simple answers for simple questions. That's a no brainer. If it wasn't real, show the real one. If he's asked 10 times, show it 11 times. 110% should be given. Period.

As far as Trump. I might even vote for him. He might be after money and fame, but what better way of getting it? He'd be at it like a dog with a bone (hair flying everywhere) He'd want everyone's votes, and he'd want to WIN. What better way to get famous? He no doubt can blur the lines between good and bad. Who hasn't? But he KNOWS right from wrong, and he makes mistakes. I've seen some, and I've seen him do some remarkably admiral things. Maybe for the fame and glory, but admirable, none the less. I wouldn't care WHY he did it, just IF he did it.

There have been some sooo simple things that I've felt needed to be done. I'm shocked they weren't done. If I was monied like Trump, I'd have hired it done, and paid to keep it silent. But it'd been done. I know someone named Mike I might have paid to do it, and it'd been done quietly and super efficiently, the first time. And then we'd be sitting here talking about something else.

Those are just some of this American's thoughts

1. When obama was campaigning back in 08 and it looked like he could be a tough contender for the opposition don't you think those Republicans sent out investigators to find some dirt on Obama ? Guess they didn't !!

2. All the Republicans in various office's are so corrupt that they would pass Obama's Birth Certificate off as Real not a phony? No one wanted to show he had a fake one or he wasn't born here?

3. When someone gets appointed to the Supreme Court, hearings are held and that person appointed is scrutinized and investigated but we don't do the same for someone who is running for President of our Country ?

I guess you people don't think much of anyone in politics including your own Republicans....

He's in business to make money for himself, just like your Princess Palin.....

I watch Fox news and they always have the opposing side expressing their opinions, no evidence of that on the other news shows.

Even this morning, they made fun of Glen Beck and belittled him because he is leaving Fox. They insinuated that he was too embarrassing for them.

In reality, they could have contacted Glen and asked him directly.

We can argue all day long. The majority of people are good, there are some bad ones too. It doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on.

We are all pulling the wagon in different directions and getting nowhere.

I respect other peoples views, hopefully, they will respect mine.

I dont know out there how many have ever had to have a top secret security clearance,but if you have you would understand the vetting process.IF you want to feel it pass a counterfeite note and you will find out.YOU will feel violated to say the least.

No president has ever had to show a birth certifcate so why this one????? IS he sapposed to show up hat in hand and say I AM ONE OF YOU what is it that you want to see? There is Certificate of Live Birth and then there is Certification of live Birth.... Either way you want to say obama showed or didn't show here is a link to information about a Birth Certificate or certification of Live Birth.

For a Certification of Live Birth to be legal it has to show it was legally registered through a state Registrar with a stamp and seal

I want to point out that it used to be that you could use a certificate of a live birth or a crib card to register for school or any other thing. Now you have to pay to get a certified copy of your birth certificate.

I know this because my son's certificate of live birth from WY was not accepted, he had to produce a Birth Certificate.

I didn't need to use Snopes to know that.

I graduated from High School, went 1 year to business college. I don't need an Ivy League Degree to have common sense. No professor can teach that.

I think Jesse is correct its only in the wording but they are the same.

I was born in Wisconsin , they don't give you the original document, they give you a copy. My copy says original certificate of birth, it has the name of the hospital, date of birth, mother and fathers names and the name they gave me. The Dr signed it.

I also have a Notification of Birth Registration

U S Department of commerce It says

the following record of birth is registered in the office of the state registrar of viral statistics at Madison Wisconsin

I don't have all my kids birth certificates but I do have an extra copy of one of my son's

His says State of Idaho Certificate of Live Birth it has his name my name and husbands name date of birth attending Dr, who was Dr Bell born in Mountain Home and it has our address at that time and that we lived in Elmore County..

I do remember when all my children became old enough to drive we had to send off for a copy of their original birth certificate.

Also any one the hospital gives you is not a legal copy....

Jesse/Wayne I was able to get my passport by showing my birth certificate. I was also checked out by our Government a long time ago when my first husband got a job at the Pentagon... So I guess my Birth Certificate passed inspection.

I looked at the copy of Obama's birth certificate online and it looks normal to me, has all the information mine has except for his info is not mine....

I've had my run in's with a few on here too. I've been called some names. I think of it as an initiation to the blogs, a welcome.... It doesn't bother me, I sometimes sit back here and laugh because I know I got them going....lol !

I've been sparring here since 2009.

I look back at one of my very first blogs I wrote and can find it funny now, but then I couldn't because I was new to this blogging thing.

I wrote about feeding wild cats in my neighborhood, and I got accused of killing song birds because I was feeding wild cats.... lol !

Oh my goss! The title of this blog is Seriously Stupid. I posted and went on with my little life, not knowing that 80 comments were posted here. It took me aswhile to read thru it all too.

Thanks everyone for the spirited banter. I read some really great comments with thought and common sense. I read some really, and I mean REALLY SERIOUSLY STUPID comments too. I won't point out which cause that would take too much time and frankly, insulting to ther reader's intellect, since it is obvious which posts those are.

I will say to JessieJames that you did start your comments on a seriously level plane and it curved into seriously controversal and ended with that last comment which was sadly seriously stupid. Sorry for that observation, but I think that once you posted it and calmed down, you would agree wtih me. As much as you wanted to debate with some level of intelligence, it all fell apart when you lost the point and began to feel backed into a corner with your conscience exposed and wounded. You revealed something about yourself and then fueled the fires with the fact that the reason you got caught was due to a person turning you in. There was no remorse when you further stated that though you served 15 years, but it was okay cause you won in the end when you kept the money. IN YOUR FACE, WELLS FARGO! And you showed us that 15 years, in your mind was payment enough so IN YOUR FACE, RICH PEOPLE WHO PUT THEIR MONEY IN THE BANK. Justifying that in the long run, it was okay that you stole money and used it to further your own life because obviously those rich people didn't care and the money was insured by the FDIC. Afterall, isn't that what the FDIC is there for? To protect the money that you stole?

Seriously, Jesse: Is this all true? Did you rob a bank, get caught, serve 15 years for it but the bank was kind enough to let you keep the money? If that is true, then there is something SERIOULY WRONG here! If that is true, then what we can tell our children is that crime does pay. We can tell them that you can take what is not yours, get rich without working for it and even if it cost you 15 years in prison; that's okay cause in the end, you can tell the world...IN YOUR FACE!

I had never heard of a Certificate of Live Birth til these questions came up,..if I had, I would probably thought they were the same. I looked at your link and it really doesn't prove anything. It's just another theory about Obama's birth. Even if back then when a parent could register a baby's birth and didn't actually live in Hawaii doesn't prove that this is what Obama's parents did.

I would think with all the security we have along with spy's in many many country's, and the intelligence we have that if there was any false information given on his Birth Certificate we would of found it before he was elected.....

The sentence may be the same on the birth certificate and the certificate of live birth.

but they are not the same. The state issues one with a notary stamp.

Again, we could not use a certicate of live birth for our driver's license, school loans or school registration or any other government application.

We have people getting crossing our borders and obtaining driver's licenses with fake ID's and SSN. So how would getting an unknown candidate elected be so far-fetched? Especially if he was carefully endorsed by celebrities and adoring members of the media.

If Obama's Birth Certificate was good enough for our Government, then It should be good enough for me.

I am not a nieve person nor am I a person who is distrusting.

I respect Obama he is our President and I think it's very sad and very bad for our Country to disrespect a sitting President.

I am from the old school where people were respectful of their parents, the elderly, teachers, Neighbors and especially their President.

Its against the law to pay for abortions with Federal Money....I think it was last year (I could be wrong on the time) Obama strength that law however there are some loopholes in it. From what I can understand with the bits and peaces being fed us part of the hold up was they were working on closing the loophole so once the states get the Federal Money they can't use it for abortions in the clinics in that state.

There's a lot programs across the board that need to be gone but taking away from the poor and the elderly to pay our debt is not a good thing. Now I'm not talking about those that won't work or find ways to take advantage of free money and programs, I am talking about those that really need help. When they start cutting they aren't just taking away from the ones milking the system they are taking away from the ones that really need the help.

Pat had a horrible up bringing and I would love to tell you all, however I need to talk to him first before putting it out here.

I saw curly in the youth ranch,I see him about once a month we always talk we have some friends in common.

Ah, even a smaller world. I'm gonna completely NOT comment on the political discussion here. Curly is one pretty cool strange kind of guy. I don't even really know how long I've known him...seems like forever. I suppose when I first was going to the bar (that isnt there any more, and I can't remember the name of it, though it's on the tip of my tongue) He played. We've traded a horse or two over the years....

I once won a contest that I happened to hear on the radio. I forget the details, but basically "Can you guess who this is?" The few facts they gave as hints were pretty obscure, but I knew right off who it was, and called to tell them just seconds after contest started. They were surprised it hadn't lasted long, but I won his CD.

Last time I saw him at Les Schwab, each of us paying a bill, he told me about his Friday dances at the barn. I mean to go see those too, but haven't yet.

Jessie are you thinking of "Johns Barn" it's tore down and only the cement slab is there.... I had a lot of fun nights there when I was younger.... A lot of my friends that I socialized with there are long gone too....

We seen Curly just the other day up at Wal Mart.

I've been wanting to go to his Friday night barn dances but haven't made it yet. I hear its a lot of fun.... I'm not sure where he lives now, I think I do but not sure. I know he used to live off of Canyon Creek Road, but they moved...

I got a couple pictures of him and his wife performing at the nursing home a couple years ago... They should be in my face book photos

Just remembered the name of it ....the "Winchester Saloon". It was across from Rail Road Park, just around the corner from the El Rancho.

Last I knew he lived out 18th. But I know that place was for sale. So, not sure. Probably lives over near that barn.

Winchester Saloon... I remember that one.... I worked at the El Rancho sure hated to see that one tore down.... My first night working there my purse got stolen out of the back room. I called the police and that night the Mayor of Mtn Home and one of the swearingen's were there and they went across the street to the flower shop and came back with a bouquet of flowers for me. I thought wow what a nice town this is.... I had only lived here then a couple months... But when I got home, I got into a big fight with my then husband, he thought I had a boyfriend, and no matter what I said he would not believe me....

It took me awhile to get out of that marriage but I finally did after many many calls I made or my kids made to the police. Back then they had NO shelters for women to go to. The law said if his name was on the mortgage or lease agreement it was just as much his house as mine. All they could do was tell him to leave which most the times he did while the police were there, but then he would come back when they were gone. I was in fear of my life then, and there wasn't much he hadn't done to me.... I had friends that helped me hide with my kids and his kids.... He had tried strangling me, run me over with his van, chase me around the house with his rifle, toss me around like furniture he even held me hostage one summer day...... I got out once but he ran after me and got me back..... I have now been married for almost 32 years....to my husband pat who isn't an abuser in any way.

I good write a book about my life, not much has escaped me !

I GUESS KNOWING SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY THE 89 MAW WORKS I WOULD SAY THE PLANE STILL FLYS CONG RESSIONAL MISSIONS.they didnt buy a plane just for her im sure.anyhow thats an old chapter.I am intrested in going forward. IF mr B wants to take delta thats cool. He could have the plane as far as im concerned, because of the line of succession it ok with me,but thats me.I am sure he has priority on its use wether he wants it or not.Nancy overstepped her bounds in my book. That was a vanity move that didnt need to happen.congressman and familys are a drop in the bucket on the vip usage.It has probally gotten better but I really dought it.And the people of the 89th cant say anything because of the nature of the job.So who knows?????????? You know what bothers me more, sending our kids into harms way without equipment and leadership that bothers me to no end. I am not talking about officers either,our NCO's are lacking leadership skills bad, the military is not GM, PEOPLE DIE WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR HEAD UP AND LOCKED.......IM ON A RANT BETTER GO///////////

YOUR OK.......THE FAMILY ISSUE WAS OVER THE TOP I COULDNT BELIEVE THAT AND THEY DIDNT CARE THEY GAVE LIP SERVICE TO IT......ALL OF THEM.They used those kids as pawns........The skills thing is a pet peeve of mine.It really gets to me because i saw so much of it. its kinda like the newbie in the bush scary.except this is more long lasting and deadly.I understand the polotics of the military and that we are the hammer of polotics however there should be a more prudent use of that hammer.

First and foremost, politicians do not really affect the job market significantly. I could show statistics to prove this.

Yes, if one was to look at an economic impact study the correlation between political actions, legislation, stimulus, etc. and jobs is positive. But how positive? Not very. This means that if one wants to predict amount of jobs and one only considers the variable of political actions, you will be wrong about 97% of the time.

Obama as well as anyone that will be elected President will all say the same thing. They are constrained by the fact that they really have little to no control over the economy. Their actions are little more than window dressing. Americans, I feel, know this already but need a convenient target for their complaining. If Obama or anyone else was to leave this, "job-creation, fix the economy" garbage out of their speeches or campaigns the public would scream themselves hoarse and this message board would be flooded. We want to hear this stuff so that we can tear them down later.
