Thanks for the link.... I'm from the Duluth/Superior area. Wisconsin is a Demo state, I assume those Demo's hiding don't agree with the Gov and their trying to get their point across. And I'm not saying that's the right thing to do, your right they need to come back and voice their opinions....

Everyone wanted a change at the poles last Nov and they got it. Seems the Republicans are making choices the people don't like or want....

Wisconsin was a demo state, past tense. That's why they are in the shape they are in now. Too much spending and taxing and the voters spoke loud and clear and the new governor is doing as he said he would do. Teachers there could retire in their mid 50's and earn a good income without paying income taxes on their retirements while a Wisconsin combat veteran could retire there and expect to pay income tax on his retirement. Big cities in Wisconsin will always vote for the dems as they want the hand outs. Madison has been know as the Midwest version of the Kremlin since the 60's.The new management in Wisconsin is doing what the majority voted for and some of the people don't like it. The public union money ends in the dems coffers and people are tired of it. Then the young adults go to school and are taught lib ideas in a lot of cases and people are tired of that too. Just my opinion and I'm the worlds foremost authority on that.

It is obvious to me that there wouldn't be Rally's happening all over the place unless there is discord in people. Not everyone goes along with the Republicans, just like not everyone goes along with the Democrats....And then there are those who are Republicans but don't go along with everything they want to do....Then again the people spoke in Nov.........and now maybe wish they hadn't.....

In Wisconsin it's not just about teachers, its Unions and taking rights away, striping them of their right to collectively bargain benefits and work conditions.

The Democrats stayed away hoping the Bill wouldn't get passed, but it passed without them.

It will be interesting to see what will happen to those 14 Democrats that stayed away.. If you scroll down on the page I gave you it says down at the bottom ......"Wisconsin law doesn't allow police to arrest the lawmakers"

And I think that is wrong, if they break laws then they should have to answer just like anyone else. Maybe the Governor will work on changing that..

Its funny when people say that collective bargaining is a "right". What? I missed that in the declaration. Certain unalienable rights like Life liberty the pursuit of happiness and the right to collectively bargain more and more tax money out of your fellow citizens.

Union time is over. Break them all, thats what all the workers rights legislation is for. Any argument only exists because the unions have made these people reliant upon sucking off of their fellow citizens.

It's all about the kids, AEHI is going to build a nuclear plant, and the WRCED district is all about recreation. And the next time someone tells me to thank a teacher I think that I'll just puke on their shoes. Why not thank the garbage man for collectiving our refuse so that plague and pestilence dont run rampant through our streets? Kim: I'm sure you have thought about your next blog on unions and don't need my two cents, but. Most people are more acceptable of non public unions due to the fact that they see them as a counter to big business. Most people are less acceptable of public unions as it pits the tax payer directly with the union member because they are paying that union member. In both cases the money usually ends with the dems. Public unions are growing, especially in the last two years, and non public unions are shrinking.

This is a RIGHT TO WORK STATE so why do you have to belong to a union??????? I noticed we talked about the unions and there (POWER).and we talked about regulations in place to keep people safe.THAT MAY BE TRUE IN SOME INSTANCES BUT NOT ALL.How about the coal mine that had 500+ safety violations and some that created the enviroment for the explosion that killed those workers,the company in that case IGNORED and the workers and there familys paid dearly.

Now im sure your going to say it doesnt apply to the public sector,but does it in the more broader sense of it all.Dont get me wrong there is a time and place for everything and you can over reach.I see that we down play teacher education compared to doctors engineers etc,its the same,it requires ongoing continous education by all professionals,to include the auto worker.We tend to think of payment based on a hiarchy of percieved need at any given time.

Yes there are more effecient ways to educate,and we do need to educate to be competitive,and consider that the overseas wages are not a good benchmark,because those wage levels a based on the economics of that given country not ours.How about lowering some PRICES as we lower WAGES,that also is a good place to start.LETS PUT THAT QUESTION OUT THERE AND SEE HOW MANY ARE FOR THAT?

"Walker has also threatened that if the bill doesn't pass, up to 1,500 people may be laid off by July in order to achieve the savings necessary to balance the budget, with another 6,000 layoffs by the middle of 2013, with an equal number on the local level.

That layoff threat is a real possibility if schools are going to see a large cut in aid and have their ability to raise property taxes restricted, Berry said.

"If 80 percent of your budget is personnel, and you're having state and your property tax revenues reduced while your costs are going up, you can't solve your problem without addressing compensation," Berry said.

In that case, "you only have two choices -- reduce the number of people or keep the people and reduce the amount of compensation," he said.

It's being reported that these MIA Dems are being charged a fine for each day that they have refused to show-up. They also can't get paid without showing up to collect their check.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REPUBLICAN

Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot

full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for

minimum water quality standards.

He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His

medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure

their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers

medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their

employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares

his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe's bacon is safe to

eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing

industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is

properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents

because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting

on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and

takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree-

hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our

air.

He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to

work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation

fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public

transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a

contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay,

medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some

liberal union members fought and died for these working standards.

Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't

want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he'll get a worker

compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn't think

he should loose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It's noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some

bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some

liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who

ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below

market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that

Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and

earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at

his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to

dad's; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal

fought for car safety standards.

He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live

in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers

didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electric until

some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and

demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republicans would still

be sitting in the dark)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social

Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could

take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. After his visit with dad

he gets back in his car for the ride home.

He turns on a radio talk show, the host keeps saying that liberals

are bad and conservatives are good (He doesn't tell Joe that his

beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit

Joe enjoys throughout his day). Joe agrees, "We don't need those big

government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I'm a self-made man

who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I

have."

I needed a good joke this morning, as 2 friends died, one on Thursday and one on Saturday. They should be listed in the obituaries Monday.... Pat will be firing at Jack's funeral. I have something to say about comments which I am sure Homer will be excited to read... :)
