Outstanding!!!..although I did hear the democrat from boise that voted against it on KBOI telling everybody that it's a bad idea. She feels that you and I need to pay for healthcare for EVERYONE. She doesn't get it that 62% of the nation and probably an even higher percentage in this state don't want to pay for everyone else. Hopefully those people in her district will show her the door. She was saying it was a bad idea to vote in a resolution before the federal government even had a healthcare bill signed into law. I call this being PRO-ACTIVE vs. REACTIVE. 34 states now have bills up for vote or are considering them telling the federal government the same thing..STAY OUT OF OUR STATE. Once again...GREAT JOB for the state to stay on top of it's rights.

  • I have a son who doesn't have health care what would the best plan be for him? What happens when he has to go to the hospital?

  • MsM:

The problem with healthcare reform is that it does not fix the "real" problem which is the insurance industry and the hospitals. Until they fix these 2 things and regulate costs---there will be no true reform. Since the insurance industry gives so much cash to DC things are not likely to change. Few dare to bite the hand that feeds them.

So, while your son, under this plan MAY get insurance will it be quality coverage or just expensive fluff. IMHO we need less Government intervention. Who can trust these fools in DC? I certainly do not want to rely on what THEY think I need the next time I need a medical test. If it was up to 90% of those people we could all drop dead. Less social security to pay from yet another fund that is underfunded due to DC theft.

We did this to ourselves with NAFTA, etc. Now we wonder where the jobs have gone. Hmmmm. I wonder.

  • So what happens to us the tax payers when my son walks into the hospital tomorrow for treatment?

I am currently trying to find a new health plan for my husband and I that is less expensive since our premiums went up to almost $500.00 a month. Most health plans have a ppo and the Doctor I go is a non ppo which means I have to pay more to see him. I've been going to him since back in the 80'S, he knows me and I don't want to have to change Dr'S just so I can afford health care.

So it is not an easy task getting an affordable health care plan right now.

I also have a preexisting condition (Lupus) which makes it harder to switch plans

One thing your son can do is go to the hospital..sounds stupid but that it. He gets treated as no hospital taking government money can turn him down. he then makes a payment arrangment and pays a certain amount each month. Like I said..sounds stupid but I did it with the birht of my oldest daughter. We finally got her paid off right before her 15th birthday. There is also an indigent fund the hospital can dip into through the county. You already pay this tax in your property taxes twice a year. Your taxes DO NOT go up when people use this option as some liberals out there have been saying. A certain percentage is taken from property taxes and put into this fund. When the fund is dry then no more money. Remember, local governments CAN NOT deficit spend like the feds do.

I feel your pain about the cost of healthcare and the limitations like pre-existiing conditions. These are a few of the things in the current healthcare bill I WOULD like to see passed. Although I do believe that people with higher risk potential should pay a higher premium. Just the same as someone who speeds or gets a DUI pays higher car insurance. Though some may not think that's fair, is it fair to me that I subsidize the insurance of a 45 year old man that weighs 300 pounds, smokes 2 packs a day and drinks a 6 pack every night? I do think that I have the right to see whatever Doc I chose to. I've been batted around a few doctors thanks to changing jobs and health care providers....even with Tri-Care I end up seeing someone different everytime. I't tough to develope a relationship with someone who prods your naked body if you don't see the same person everytime.

Needless to say there is no perfect answer to this. If the president truly wants to pass something meaningful then he has to come to terms with the republicans in congress and quite treating them like school children who shouldn't be involved in what the grown-ups are doing.

  • Giving the States the right to manage their own affairs rather than the Federal govt. is a promising idea.

  • Europe is a bit of a different ballgame. They have and will always have independence movements. For Example, Britain is so small but there are active movements in Scotland and Wales for them to become independent nations. Not realizing that splintering has not worked for the countries in Eastern Europe or Africa. But they have not the economic sense to put their pride away knowing that in the end they will all be worse off. But it is the British handling of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales where we get our fear of Big Brother. A little bit of it comes from German's resisting the unification of Germany in the 1880's. I guess the point is that breaking up into all these small independent countries is not a miracle cure and has its drawbacks as well.

  • its going to take a bit longer to be honest. Those conflicts in Europe took hundreds of years to come to a head. Scotland's beef with Romanized Britain started in the 1st century. The various nations that have sprouted in Eastern Europe were the result of three thousand years of perpetual invasion and flux. All of these nations are now feeling the pain of knowing that limited resources is a major hurdle. Their pride has led them to poverty. These nations cant put their animosity aside and so are mostly dirt-poor. The only difference between them and most of Africa is their physical proximity to richer countries and American's fascination with their nations. I guess, I am skeptical of those who feel that pride is all that should govern one.

  • I see that there is a lot of compelling thought behind a lot of the dicussions posted here. I see alot of Sarah Palin followers here. Down with the republic and those liberal Democrats and up with state rights, no taxes, no United Nations, and maybe secession from the union itself..blah, blah, blah.

Once again, you "right-wing" conservative goose stepping Republicans are not seeing or do not choose to see the issue before this great nation. Health care cost are KILLING the fabric of society in this nation. Your Republican leaders are in bed with the giant multi-billion dollar health insurance companies.

Open your eyes for christ sake! Our annual GNP is being greatly effected by "soaring" health care cost. The U.S. is the only industrialized nation in the world that does NOT have a comprehensive health care plan. The middle class has become the "working poor" and is taking the brunt of these cost. Yes, Washington is not perfect, but we are long overdue for health care reform.

Stop blaming Washington and the Democrats for every ill in our society. What we need today is "bi-partisanship" working together, regardless of polictical party to fix our nations problems...those of you who scream state rights, need to be reminded the last time our nation had states "revolting"...it's called the civil war and it cost our nation over a half million souls.

It seems to be "hip" to defy Washington and our federal government just because we have a Democratic "black" president..that's narrowminded and just plain wrong. Stop being blinded by the likes of Rush and Sarah and start thinking on your own! Besides, they could care less about us, when they are making millions spreading half-truths, lies and radical and sometimes racial emotions.

The Rebuplican party used to believe in something, don't let the far-left "tea-party" radicals hijack the party of Lincoln. Government is not necessarily bad, if it works for the people. Remember that we are Americans FIRST and foremost, and Idahoians second. It is right to take a stand and speak your peace, but speak for yourselves and not for the twisted ideology of the far-right!
