I've lived in Mtn Home since 1989, so that's...hold on...I'm thinking...WOW! Exactly 25 years! Boy, I think I can almost declare myself an Idahoan. But my family is British and I grew up in Louisiana around lots of other Brits so I still think I'm a little bit of a mutt. Those of you who have been around awhile may remember when I used to blog all the time. My opinions weren't very accepted and there was always an issue because I work for the county. That really wasn't fair because I NEVER blog at work! And I am still entitled to my opinions and thoughts about city and county issues, right? However, it stirred a lot of pots and those pots certainly can make a lot of noise! Since I'm a writer, I took what I wrote in my blog seriously so I spent a lot of time researching things which got exhausting to do when you're not even get a paycheck for it. So I stopped. That was a blessing to many! However, to this day, I still have people stop me and ask me why I wasn't blogging and t! hey missed it. I've missed it. Mainly because there are so many issues that come up and I have no voice except around my friends and I'm sure they are tired of it.

I was hopeful but the blah blah blah crushed it.

My opinion: I was tired from working overtime and wanted to just veg-out so I was tempted to channel surf without a care in the world. That is what I wanted, Lord knows it, but I didn't. No, I kept the channel fixed, grabbed a notepad and pen, poised for note-taking, while Obama sauntered to the podium. He looked so calm and spoke with an authority that actually reminded me of teachers that I had in school. Well, those teachers always got my attention and sparked my desire to rebel. I felt my spine stiffen and my ears perked with the need to hear something that would sway my distaste. Just give me something, please! Some tid-bit of hope that what I know deep within myself is overwhelmingly false. I want to think that the doom and gloom that has darkened my country is not real. I whispered, "Can't you help me out?" to the screen as Obama kept repeating the same thing over and over as if the teleprompter was stuck like a broken record. He kept saying: Strategy to create jobs, help homeowners, get credit going...blah blah blah! Give me something!

Then the record skipped to: renewable energy, I like that! Yes, I want our country to tap into it's own resources, natural gas, oil, alternative energy is a wonderful thing! I want wind power, solar energy, hydrogen power....yes, I want that! Is that the hope? Then it all got cancelled out when he said, "buying up assets...reformed health care...a budget of 7 trillion...renewable source, clean energy jobs, reformed healthcare, ...regulating big companies that affect our economy! What! Is that free-enterprise? He wants to ensure we never go back to the past by allowing the government to take control of businesses that they deem to be "too big to fail" and "have the power to restructure a company that effects the economy" Oh, this is exactly what I've been worried about. Now, the government will take control and dictate what a business can pay their employees and how to run it. And this is from a President who has never ran a business before!

Record skipped again and he repeats over and over the same thing, "buying up assets...reformed health care...a budget of 7 trillion...renewable source, clean energy jobs, reformed healthcare. Everytime a reporter asked a question, he gave the same answer which wasn't even an answer to their question. He was dancing around everyone! Droning on and on. He couldn't give a direct answer to a simple question like, "If there is not a tax cut for the middle-class or cap n trade in the budget, will you sign it?" He evaded the question and repeated...blah, blah, blah, broken record! Then the reporter asked it again. Obama said, "blah, blah blah!"

So like a good informed researcher, I went and read other sources before I made my decision to blog. Here is what I found. Let's go over a few points. Let's call this, Fact or Blah blah.

OBAMA Blah Blah: We will get out of this recession. We see a steady increase of growth. The budget predicts solid 3.2 percent growth for 2010, followed by three years of more than 4 percent growth each year.

FACT: Who can say when the recession will end? There are so many things that can happen in a year. We could be worse and we could be in a depression worse that ever. I mean, how much sense does it make to try and get us out of recession by putting us deeper into debt? Then, the budget predicts solid 3.2 percent growth for 2010, followed by three years of more than 4 percent growth each year. Who has the crystal ball? It's all a wing and a prayer except that prayer wouldn't be allowed since there's a separation of church and state.

OBAMA Blah Blah: "In this budget, we have made the tough choices necessary to cut our deficit in half by the end of my first term even under the most pessimistic estimates."

FACT: Not all credible estimates foresee a deficit halved in that time. The President's forecast of a deficit of $530 billion by 2013 (if we're around then, the Mayan's didn't think so) That would cut the budget in half but in order for that to happen, a lot of magic must occur. I wonder if this President has a Merlin in his cabinet.

His own Congressional Budget Office forecasts it would leave a deficit of $672 billion by the end of 2013. He contradicted himself by explaining the differences between his projections and CBO's by saying that he projects a higher growth rate. Magic! Well, I want some of that cause I have decided to project that I will be debt-free by 2010! Sweet!

OBAMA blah blah: "Our assumptions are perfectly consistent with what blue-chip forecasters out there are saying."

FACT: The Blue Chip projection: 1.2 percent versus 1.9 percent. Then it foresees growth of 2.1 percent next year, instead of 3.2 percent, and less than 3 percent in each of the next three years versus 4 percent or better.

OBAMA blah blah: Responding to critics in Congress who say his proposed budget is irresponsible, Obama said, "I suspect that some of those Republican critics have a short memory, because, as I recall, I'm inheriting a $1.3 trillion deficit, annual deficit, from them."

FACT: Republican President George W. Bush did leave a huge deficit. But people, rememeber: The Democratic-run Congress, which authorizes spending is not blameless in driving up deficits in the last two years.

Now that's the facts, nothing but the facts! No more blah blah blah!

Oh, and mhg starts things off with name calling! If you do not like her blog---DO NOT READ IT. Paranoid freaks? Better to be "paranoid" than blind and ignorant on the issues! I can only imagine where we will be in less than 4 years. Then it will be...give him more time. Ugh.

You do not even live here anymore! Why comment? Do you not have a local paper or local issues that you can work on? Maybe volunteer for the local hospital or teach kids to read at the elementary school. Certainly you must have something you COULD do where YOU live.

Nice blog Kim as always. We need to start a book club for the "paranoid freaks" and keep you away from any more "Obamanation" freak TV. It just is not healthy to watch. You can pick the first book and Mike and Ken can read and animate for us! It could be a great time. Wine and popcorn and sweet treats from the CoOp (in Boise). Great blog Kim. The government must be doing something right, the stock market is starting to go up. The housing market it starting to improve, in Boise it is up 14%. It might be nice to look at some of the positives instead of only the negatives.

MH is my home OM!I will eventually get back there and raise my family, you can count on it!...MY home for 22 years, MY roots are in MH.....MY entire family! I read the MHN, I post on the MHN because I can and I will...You have been asked many times to shut up and stop blogging/posting, but you dont because you do not have to and have ALOT to say, neither will I. Kim blogs and writes becasue she is good at it and loves it, but, all blogs/posts are open for opinions, right Missy? Right! I am obviously an Obama supporter and trust in MY president! I will defend him. Just as you are not a supporter and you will defend that as well. As far as volonteering , I have 1 full time job, as well as 1 part time, so, I am unable to do much of that. Stating my opinion here on the BB has nothing to do with volunteering. Just as usual, you can dish it out over and over again but you cannot take it at all! I am not an Obama supporter, I believe he is leading us down the path to a socialist state and that was the plan all along. (I like that OBAMA - One-Big-***-Mistake-America bumper sticker) But I'm really tired of people who are intolerant of other people's opinions on this site. You try to state your opinion and they say just stick to facts, or use name-calling, or say you're not from here so you can't post here blah, blah, blah. Or they say the election is over so you can't say anything negative. I welcome other people's opinions; that's why I get on this website. It would be such a boring world if everyone thought alike. Can we all just quit attacking and using cheap shots on people whose opinions don't agree with our own?

Once again, the debate is spirited. My post was written point by point with facts. Although I did make a few comments about magic and crystal balls, it was strictly facts. I don't care who takes the time to blog. Whether they are citizens of MH or not, makes no difference to me. Apparently, I am clueless because I don't know which people who comment live here or not. I just write what I think after reading alot of other media and facts. If that is self-absorbed, then so be it.

Masturbatory? The fact that I evoked such a nice-sized word out of someone makes me smile. I'm just tickled pink that someone thought of it. I loved it so much that I think I'll write the word on posterboard and make a cute collage of pictures around it. It's going on my wall! That's what I'll do! Wow, I can look at it everyday while I write. It is a badge of honor and it makes me smile. Masturbatory just makes me giggle. It's almost naughty, yet isn't. Thank you so much for providing me with such a perfect descriptive word. I will enjoy it for many days to come. Have a great day everyone. I gotta go. Scary how government/obama is now "dictating" how the auto makers should run. He is hiring and firing now. This is government control no matter how you turn it. To think that those companies fell into the trap. How many state and local governments have done the same? Who is using the bail outs? If they are being used, then the user is going to be controlled.

I like how an AP news article even used the word "dictating". That is almost unheard of from the leftist news. I think they are actually seeing through the curtain also.FINALLY someone is seeing the light.

obama has set a pattern. Remember how he kept stating the economy was so terrible, and we were getting deeper and deeper into trouble as a country. Also, it was self-fulfilling prophecy: the worse he said it was the less and less people spent. obama kept saying that only government could get us out of this.Wow!! Well, it came around and bit him in the butt. Other countries, China, Japan, Ger, England were all becoming fearful of a US failure. He finally had to begin to say that things may not have been as bad as thought, and that we will probably come out of it in 2009.

Then, obama showed absolute shock over the bonuses to AIG. Yet he voted for them back in 2008. Oh My!! Anyway - now it is atrocious, the companies can't handle themselves. OOPS. Word is out that it was voted on earlier and is beginning to bite his backside again. Let's get off of the subject everyone. Move on to something else.

Do I see a trend here? Can I recount other instances?

Remember; we're going to help you, we're going to get you going again, we're going to make sure that you all have --- and blah, blah, blah!. But at what cost? We have only yet to see.

Nothing is FREE. Not even gov't bail outs. Once the money is taken and used - then that company or state or city is now "owned", and will follow the obama plan.

Yes, but we are "not" falling into a socialist way of thinking/doing things (yeah right). The Obamanation will control the banks and insurance industry and own portions of a great deal of homes. Government control. I do believe his "plan" is about complete. If he could ask the CEO of GM to resign...why not also demand the same of the yahoo at AIG? Why "honor" contracts when the people should have just been fired for doing a reallllllllllllly crappy job? He knew about the bonus bucks all along...it was probably on page 639 in small print---IF he would have READ the darn document. Who in the heck signs things, in this day and age, without reading the document? Obamanation's outrage is at himself and the fact that the "secret" is out that he knew all about it. That is where the outrage is from. So much for no bonus bucks from stimulus money! And, do not even think this is the first time or the only company that has done it. I am sure anyone that got money paid bonus bucks to their sub-standard heads. We will never know who got what and when. Now, they have their hand out again. If they could not make a go of it with what they got, why GIVE them more. They should all be allowed to go out of business. Guess my next car payment should just be sent to DC as they own it all anyway to include a big piece of each and every one of us. We shall all be "slaves" now to DC and their great ideas.
