700 mhz spectrum gone

Well our good friends at the FCC have done it to us again and this time its going to hurt.
The FCC through rule making says that all devices such as wireless microphones even in toys and even low power will no longer be able to operate in the 700mhz spectrum.
There will be no phase in or phase out program as digital TV goes fully active the majority of the 700 mhz spectrum will no longer be licensed to any private broadcaster or device.
Instead the band will be for public service agencies(Police, Fire etc) but short distance communication or broadcasting, no way. Watch free white space that many in the wifi and cell phone industry use to transmit and recieve data will go the same way.
Someone once told me as I was exiting Pocatello that if you want a station to be what you want it to be where others can't tell you what to do with it , within reason, build it yourself. Own it yourself. That rude awakening came full force Friday. It's like someone is walking on a Land mine waiting for the explosion.
Granted there are rules for Public as well as all broadcasting concerning decency, etc. Heck ain't seen a decent thing on TV up to when Sons of Anarchy started running, but looking over some gear, I saw stuff that truly should be in an Idaho Broadcasters Muzzeeum. When I asked what can be checked out etc, I thought hong kong phooey, so I'm leap frogging over Mnt Home for Boise. As far as broadcasting goes here near where I live, not giving up, but will wait to say more about that when it goes up and on air. Plus sticking to radio not going tv.
I used to think CH-12 in Pocatello was bad.
Granted the funding is different and more of it at CH-12 etc, but here could be so much more, and really needs to be in bigger quarters.
Yes the lady running it is doing great with what she has to do it with, and as long as they let me I'll be involved, but just until I get enuff bread to head to Boise.
Redneck southern fried radio is my aim for Glenns Ferry, Hammett and western Magic Valley. But not as far as I care, Mountain Home.
There needs to be a fix there and I don't have that ability.
Next blog entry, the Miss Hazzard project for 2009.
