Search engines are running out of fuel

This morning waiting to get some email back I searched for the path or process to getting a book published.

So as many do I Googled, Dog-Piled and so on trying to snag a real answer as to how does a new writer or for that matter a basically radio copy writer get his(or her) book published?

Results? Not one dang thing usuable unless I cough up money and of course on the web that requires a credit card an this high gear gear head don't use plastic. But does it seem that the World Wide Web has reached somewhat of a dead end? For that matter why can't these web business's bill you for their services? I would think in these days of credit card debt and all that someone willing to spend cash would be welcome.

Anyone have any advice here, please let me know.
