I made the statement in one of my last blogs that Military especially Marine Combat Aviators do not like to be called PILOTS. Just like those of us going towing do not like being called a Wrecker Driver or Tow Truck Driver, we'd rather be called Veicle Recovery Technicians. Getting back to the Aviator thing, that statement was told to me By Greg Boyington himself, and that carries a bunch of weight in my book. For that matter though sailors do not call a ship of any kind a boat. Other wise you get put in a basket , hoisted over the side cleaning sea weed off of that ship. Guess it must have something to do with being Air Force and Marine/Navy. Clash of Cultures .
