SO What is Maximum Overdrive?

For those that carry the things we all need from coast to coast in all kinds of weather and with pride, despite ever increasing fuel costs and regulatory fees, Maximum Overdrive is that feeling that a trucker gets when the cb is quiet, both tanks full, a good meal inside your belly open highway and low traffic. When its you, your truck and maybe your fave trucker radio show on. A full moon, and the sweet smells of open kountry. Some might think I just mis-spelled the word Country, with a K instead of a C. But I did not start that. See years ago when a hot country singer by the name of Kitty Wells was in the top of her career she spelled country with a big K instead of a C, as she said the big K kinda looked like a western boot, so that's how that began. In all fairness to Glenns Ferry here earlier. I might have been a little hard on the small town after all you can't really expect such a small town to have much of anything after all we in Glenns Ferry don't even have a McDonalds. However there is this thing called a revitalization committee here, that if the current attitude of the town continues there wont be much of anything to breathe life back into. After a long night of a conference computer call thank goodness for such online services as Skype, while I'll most likely finish building my own housing for my own aircraft and all here the plan of me going towing or living in Glenns Ferry for very long has came to a head, and flatly just can't be done, so I'll be here for a year, but then after I determine whether its best to be in Mountain Home or back east down the other side of Twin Falls, then its move again. When I unpacked here on my final haul of my relocation herefrom Pocatello that too has its head up its six and wonders why the economy there just as Glenns Ferry does here, don't get better, but when I unpacked I figured I was where I was going to be and that was my last move. At least until I found a patch of ground to build my own house, shop etc. While Rome and certainly Glenns Ferry was not completed in a day or even a week, the fact is because of my lack of intel gathering it is my stupid not the town that I ran into a dead end. Might be why anything for rent apartment or housing wise requires a 1 year lease. After all any new comers here if they discovered what I did, if rent was on a month to month they'd be gone after the first month. Our nation as a whole has changed much since 9-11 and even before that. Our nation is no longer the innocent believing nation it was upon its founding. Many people in going towing know this. Used to be you could operate a tow truck out of your home with one maybe two trucks. State Police and others really did not care where your impound yard was as long as it was fenced and locked. Today that is no longer an option. Today if your going towing, you A; must have a shop or commercial service facility, B; your impound yard if you can have one, and no you can't have one in Glenns Ferry, no place for one, the city council and all will not let you put one up, C; the Fire Chief wont sign off on one because it might cause him competition and he will not allow that. Its not fire safety the guy is concerned with its another shop that was really good with a full on towing service that could handle anything(like mine) might decrease the fire chief's own business, and thats too political. Funny how things like that happens ain't it? And while I'm not yet done trying something to do with Marine determination combined with Hazzard County tenacity, and currently looking at a spot in Hammett, which by the way will do nothing for Glenns Ferry's economy. But a truck stop/truck shop and our towing service isbeing looked into. Let you know how that all turns out. The current Governor of the state of Idaho has said much here lately of the decrease in Idaho's Tourism Economy. Well duh, If small towns as well as bigger towns even some cities in Idaho keep slamming the doors on tourism directed and supported business's even things that might bring visitors to our state, of course people will go elsewhere. Just because you build it does not always mean they will visit of course, but some things might help. Do you realize that in Glenns Ferry there is no computer wifi ? You either get hooked up to RTC or satellite if you can, but that means truckers especially in Glenns Ferry trying to do computer paper work are just S-O-L. I'm not trying to bash Glenns Ferry, just maybe give it a slight kick in its complacency. Few people are open to change. In fact many fear change, but if the revitalization committee as well as the small town of Glenns Ferry wants the towns jobs and all to improve its got to get into a better groove of helping those wanting to make something go here, go rather than the city council and one financial officer of city hall saying you can't do that here. Nuff said. Should any of you wish to read more of me, log onto www.ayretraxx.blogspot.com
