So why Glenns Ferry?

In the neighboring city of Hagerman aka Hazzard Idaho my parents and I built at the time a house that was 20 years or more ahead of its time. In 1984 shortly after my mom passed away in 1983 , the Trustee of a thing simply called the Montgomery Trust sold that home, so living much less settling there with the home sold is way too much of a heart breaker. My 4rth cousin and her husband now run Sligers resort there and while I more than likely could set up there again as I said the thought of somebody else living in the house my parents and I built is too much of a load to carry. So I came to Glenns Ferry, close to Hazzard and all but not there. Anyone over the age of 35 who has lived in the immediate area longer than 40 years knows why the town got its nick name Hazzard. That reason is me. See back in 1979 a year and a half after the hit TV show the Dukes of Hazzard came out and all and after my involvement with said TV show, I jumped when I got the chance to buy one of the original stunt cars(General Lee's) which has since became a chunk of metal. Lost the car in a divorce, which is another reason I am in GF not Pocatello, etc. Getting back on the road here. What worked there then in almost the same economic conditions as it was when I lived in Hazzard, in the mid 80's and live I did. Thought is what myself and a small group of kountry hot rodders put together as a custom car/truck group combined with a Dukes of Hazzard fan club, that is the parent group of the Rode Knytes(knights)Association as well as the AyreWolves/BlackSheep Vintage Aviation Association, that parent group is called The Hazzard County Knytes. with 25,000 members word-wide not including the Rode Knytes Association or the AyreWolves/BlackSheep Vintage Aviation Association, that by the way started in Jerome in 2002.Total organization membership is right at 200,000 members, some of which have been thinking of moving here, but are re-examining that thought. So when we met in June we decided to make Glenns Ferry the organizations HQ renovating the old Trophey Club in GF etc. We started talking to folks with something to rent in July and settled on where I live now and moved here in August which took nearly a month to do. But that is why GF, but it looks as though, although it might be a bit soon to say this, but it looks to me as though the welcome mat, has not only been rolled up for me as well as our group, but has been put away inside the house and a guard dog behind that door saying don't go in there. And who cares if I and our organization leaves? Look at both Bliss and parts of Hazzard since we left, then ask that question again. The fact is if we are in a community, with our car, truck shows and the attention we give to a community. Means Tourists visit, they spend their money there or where ever we are, but more importantly some say,"what a nice place to live, I think I buy a house and build a business here". But when we get the snub nose and leave others say including really big business's , say If they got the stuck up treatment, we will too so we will not build there. While not all the seeds of growth and prosperity of both Twin Falls, Jerome, and even Wendell were not planted by the Hazzard Knytes or by me, the fact is enough of them were. That brought others there to do the same thing plant economic growth seeds in those places that same thing can help, and happen in Glenns Ferry, so anyone in the area have a small shop for rent here let me know. Next Blog a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Keep Truckin
