Why have a graduation ceremony at all

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

Dear Editor,

I’m a senior at the Mountain Home High School. I was so sad to see the email we received stating we are having a virtual ceremony. Why have one at all? I spent three years waiting for this year. Yet no sports banquet, no prom, now they are telling us the most important day, our graduation day, is not going to happen. We have begged and pleaded for them to change their minds. I do not know any seniors that are okay with this decision. This is our day yet we have no rights in this decision. Why even finish? Why graduate, I keep asking myself. I sit in my room thinking about this year and how sad it makes me. Then I hear from other students in other schools how amazing their schools have been about delaying prom and graduation. They may even get their prom. What is wrong with our administration why can’t they do that for us? It’s so unfair. No one will hear our voices. How this has affected us? Why? Thank you for taking the time to hear us out.

Yours Truly,

Zach Park
