Esther Nye

Esther June Nye, 89, of Mountain Home, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Elmore Medical Center's Long Term Care Unit.

Esther was born on Aug. 29, 1923, in Lebanon, Pa., the daughter of Raymond and Violet (Auman) Eckert.

She spent most of her life in Pennsylvania where she married Warren E. Nye on Dec. 20, 1941. After Warren's death in March of 1998, she moved to Mountain Home to be closer to her family.

Esther devoted her life to the advancement of her special needs daughter, Debbie. She was actively involved in Special Olympics events as well as being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Mountain Home Senior Center and the Red Hat Society.

She spent many hours cleaning, painting and firing award-winning ceramics. She also had excellent Pennsylvania Dutch culinary skills.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Nye) Anderson, of Cotati, Calif., her son, Barry Nye, of Mountain Home, and her daughter, Deborah Nye, of Mountain Home. She is also survived by a brother, Ray Eckert, and sisters Priscilla Shober and Connie Yeagley in Pennyslvania, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Jane Pence and Emma Long.

Please join the family for a memorial service at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Inurnment will be held at Annville, Pa., at a later date.
