Fire department to host yearly open house

Fireman Brian Reed picks up Peyton Rodrigues to show his fellow kindergarten students how the city fire department would rescue an individual from a burning room. The fire fighter visited with students at North Elementary School on Monday as part of the department's annual visit to each of the city's elementary schools and preschool centers.
The Mountain Home Fire Department will hold its annual open house this Thursday, Oct. 11, from 6-8 p.m.
The event traditionally features an opportunity for children to ride the fire trucks on brief trips through town, complete with sirens blazing.
