Wellness Day will feature a large number of vendors and wellness booths.

The Elmore Medical Center annual Health and Wellness Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 7-11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 325 S. 3rd West St.

The lodge will be filled with health- and wellness-related vendor booths as well as a variety of clinical services. The annual Health and Wellness Day has grown to become a comprehensive community education event put together by the hospital.

Staff volunteers from Elmore Medical Center provide the manpower for the event.

The Medical Imaging Department staff will provide free osteoporosis screenings.

This year's event will feature on-site educational demonstrations of various health- and wellness-related activities. Demonstrations of CPR procedures, belly dancing, senior exercises and Okinawan karate will take place periodically during the event.

Various event vendors will provide free screenings, including on-site eye screenings from the Mountain Home Lions Club.

The Elmore Medical Center Auxiliary will be serving a light breakfast. In addition, auxiliary members will be accepting holiday orders for See's candy, part of the group's annual fundraising activities. Orders will be delivered in time for the holidays.

The hospital's lab staff will draw blood for low-cost "fasting" blood tests and PSA screenings.

Reduced-rate flu shots will be available with pre-registration.

Pre-registered participants will receive reduced-rate lab draws for $25 ($30 walk-in rate). The test checks for indicators of common diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and more. It includes cholesterol and thyroid hormone levels. The lab test requires a 12-hour fast prior to the blood draw. The PSA blood test is offered at a reduced pre-registration rate of $12 ($15 walk-in).

Flu shots will be made available to the public at the health fair, however, anyone who wishes to receive the flu shot must pre-register and must be 18 years or older. Walk-ins cannot be accepted for flu shots. Anyone who is unable to attend the health fair should contact their primary care physician to receive a flu shot.

Registrations forms are available at the front desk at Elmore Medical Center and the lobby of Trinity Mountain Medical Center or on the EMC website at www.elmoremedicalcenter.org.
