Runners compete in Meridian race

Mountain Home's girls' and boys' cross country squads helped Meridian debut its first Class of the Valley cross country meet at Settler's Park in Meridian last week.

Vallivue won the girls race.Mountain View was second, Timberline third, Meridian fourth, Caldwell fifth and Mountain Home sixth.

Arisha Karren paced the Mountain Home girls, running a time of 23 minutes, 38.45 seconds, good for 37th. Aerial Groene came in 41st (24:13.13), Myra Vasquez 43rd (24:22.85), Alicia Reynolds 47th (24:51.48) and Shiloh Clark 57th (25:37.67).

Other Mountain Home girl runners (there was no JV race) were Natalie Logue (26.00.13), Tracey Gordon (27:09.35), Aundrea Dickinson (29:04) and Erica Cook (30:12.63).

Timberline won the boys' race. Mountain View was second, Meridian third, Caldwell fourth, Vallivue fifth and Mountain Home sixth.

Jake Schaefer led the Tiger boys, finishing 21st in a time of 17 minutes, 51.97 seconds. Andy Croft came in 31st (18:14.55), Daniel Courtright 59th (19:21.03), Steven Kreyche 66th (19:34.73) and Cody Ashby, 74th (19:49.21).

Other Mountain Home boy runners were Nolan Pasqualetti (20:33.81), Riley Urquidi (21:57.65), John Goodell (22:03.59), Bill King (22:08) and Andrew Turner, 23:46.81.

"It was a tough race," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root after the event. "Those 5A schools that ran are all tough, but everyone ran a seasonal best. It was a great performance."

The Tigers head to Eagle Island State Park this Saturday for the Bob Firman Invitational.
