Kokanee runs turning mountain streams bright red

As they near their spawning grounds, the landlocked salmon turn the streams into a sea of red.

Besides the trees turning color, one of the annual "colorful" trips to the mountains each fall is to watch the Kokanee runs in the rivers and streams above Anderson Ranch Dam.

A landlocked form of Sockeye salmon, the Kokanee spawn this time of year, turning bright red as they approach their spawning grounds.
