Transformation complete on downtown landmark

After three month's of renovation work, the former Kings Building was ready for its new tenants. Representatives with the Bealls department store chain started installing fixtures and display cases in the store earlier this week.

After three months of work to erase years of neglect and noticeable scars, the transformation of a downtown landmark officially ended last week.

On Aug. 31, contractors that renovated the former King's Building at the corner of American Legion Boulevard and North 2nd East Street reached the "substantial completion" point, meaning the store was ready for its new occupants.
