Bob Crane

Robert "Bob" Lamar Crane, 68, of Glenns Ferry, passed away on June 4, 2011, at the Seattle VA from complications after open heart surgery.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, June 17, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Bob was born Nov. 4, 1942, to Justice Call Crane and Celia Rose Clifton, in Twin Falls. Before the age of 2, Bob's mother passed away and he and his sister, Kay ,were raised by their Uncle Gene and Aunt Athylie Crane.

Bob was raised in Glenns Ferry and graduated in 1963. He always had stories to tell about his friends from school and all the crazy and fun things they did.

After graduation, Bob went to work for an uncle in California. It was there that he met his first wife and from that union, his daughter, Michelle, was born. They were later divorced.

In 1967, Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army and in basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash., he met his lifelong friend, Jesse Lott. In 1969, Bob was honorably discharged.

Later, Bob met Linda, the love of his life. He always told everyone how he had to go to California to meet an Idaho girl. In 1975, they moved back to Idaho with their son, Rob, and had two more children, Nicole and Jeremy.

Of all the jobs Bob had during his life, he liked carpentry the best. He enjoyed creating and working with his hands and was very good at whatever he did.

Bob loved fishing and camping and all the kids and grandkids loved trying to out-fish him, which didn't happen very often. He could spend hours sitting on the bank of the lake fishing, whether he caught anything or not. He met many people when he was fishing. To him, no one was a stranger and a lot of those people have become good friends.

Bob's favorite thing was spending time with family and friends and cooking for everyone. He especially loved his grandkids and they adored him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda, and his children, Michelle and her husband, Yuseff Cherney, of California, Rob of Boise, Nicole and her husband, Mike Davison, of Prairie, and Jeremy of Boise, his grandchildren, Paige, Fisher, Connor and Wyatt, his sisters, June Thiele and Kay Neeld, his brother, Larry, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Crane, brother-in-law Charles Neeld and sister-in-law Barbara Crane.
