June Warburton

June A. Warburton, 82, of Mountain Home, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at a Boise care center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial followed at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry.

June was born to very loving hard-working 40-year-old parents, whose son, John, was 20 years old. She was brought up as an only child in a world of dotting adults in the family restaurant and bar. Her dad had a colorful employment history with the railroad. She loved his stories of making a living and shared his love of cooking and socializing.

June attended grade school in both Pocatello and Glenns Ferry, where she was an excellent student. After graduating from Glenns Ferry High School, her dad put her on the train for Moscow for college. She was most proud of editing the 1950 yearbook. Her degree was in English and journalism.

She met her husband, Robert "Tank" Warburton, while working for a magazine in Salt Lake City. They were married Sept. 5, 1953, in Glenns Ferry and set about raising a family.

In the early years, June was a housewife and devoted mother to four children. When called to the task of taking over the business after her mother passed, June proved capable of managing multiple fronts.

She returned to school at Boise State University and earned a teaching degree. She taught kindergarten at Mountain Home Air Force Base for many years as well as working in early childhood development.

June retired from working at Health and Welfare doing food stamp eligibility.

June belonged to Beta Sigma Pi for many years.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and a lifelong democrat.

June attended Al Anon and AA and was inspired by the understanding and encouragement brought by the programs. She helped many people along the way.

June enjoyed retirement, reading, writing and traveling to visit family.

She experienced a memory decline in her later years and resided in assisted living in Cedar Crest and finally in the Boise Health and Rehab. The family would like to thank both for providing care and kindness.

June is survived by her daughter, Leslie Kofoed of Boise, her son Bob Warburton of Emmett, her son Charlie Warburton of Mountain Home, her son James Warburton of Mountain Home, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, "Tank," and her brother, John Thomas.
