Mary Voorhees

Mary Jane Balliet McCrorey Voorhees was born on Feb. 24, 1929, in Elk Grove, Calif. She passed away Feb. 6, 2011, in Mountain Home, Idaho.

A celebration of her life will be held at her brother's home, on March 19. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home,.

Mary was raised in Galt, Calif., and graduated from Galt High School as Mary Jane Balliet.

Soon after school, on April 7, 1947, she married James Willard McCrorey, also of Galt. The couple moved to Coquille, Ore., where they had three children, Jed, Eric and Janice, who were raised in Coquille. Jed died in August of 2001.

Mary and James divorced in 1971. Mary then moved to Reno, Nev., where she met Sam Voorhees, and they were married on March 18, 1972. They left Nevada in 1996 to live in Grand View, Idaho, where Sam died in October of 2002.

Mary is survived by two children, her son, Eric, and his wife, Meline McCrorey, and her daughter, Janice McCrorey Gould, and her husband, Bob, five grandchildren, Matthew, Zachery, Megan McCrorey, John Dunithan and Heather Dunithan Holland, four great-grandchildren, Dillon, Hunter Dunithan, Kaydin Whatley and Irelynn Holland, and her brother, Irv Balliet. She is also survived by five step-children, David, Calvin, Denise, Vance and Jerianne, and six grandchildren, with nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sam, her son, Jed, four sisters, one brother and a granddaughter, Nicole.

She was loved and will be missed.
