Jack Green

With his wife of 50 years, and Nurse Homer at his side, Jack Green peacefully completed his journey on Feb. 5, 2011.

Jack was born Aug. 8, 1938, in Comstock, Neb., to Ralph and Viola Farmer. Jack was raised in Oregon and joined the U.S. Air Force on Aug. 11, 1955. Jack was stationed at Mountain Home AFB in 1959, were he met Bonnie Markham and married her on July 2, 1960. Jack was stationed in Germany from 1964 to 1967, returning to Mountain Home AFB, and retiring on Aug. 31, 1975.

Jack worked at Don's Auto Parts from the opening until he joined the Mountain Home Police Department.

In 1979, Jack went to work at the Idaho State Correctional Facility until his retirement in 1999. Jack with his son and son-in-law worked for Respond for five years.

Jack always loved law enforcement and wanted to be involved in some way, while giving back to the community. So he joined the Citizens on Patrol, on Nov. 19, 2004. He enjoyed his time with the C.O.P.'s and earned a Certificate of Appreciation on May 8, 2008, for helping locate parts for and repair of a stranded motorist's vehicle.

Jack had many hobbies and always volunteered to help wherever he was needed. He loved the outdoors, riding dirt bikes, camping, hunting, fishing, fly fishing, golfing, working on cars and shooting.

The last 15 years Jack spent a lot of time fishing with Joe, night or day, golfing every chance he got, patrolling with the C.O.P.'s, helping with Campfire and taking care of his family and friends.

Jack and Bonnie have five children: Michael Green, Gerilynn Zurfluh, Julie Green, Druann Nichols and Angela Lagemann; six grandchildren, Shawntel Cryer, Benjamin Zurfluh, Laura Nichols, Troy McPhail, Tayler McPhail and Landin Lagemann, and nine great-grandchildren, Shaila Cryer, Colby Cryer, Chelsea Cryer, Lauren Cryer, Lindsey Cryer, Cristopher Cryer, Jose Hernandez, Marco Hernandez and Wyatt Zurfluh.

Jack has many special people who have done wonderful things for him and his family. You know who you are. Jack says he now will watch over you until we meet again.

Until then, enjoy life while you have it. You can run and walk, move your arms to touch things with your hands, which I could no longer do. Breathe the air while you are still alive. I love you all very much and always will be in your hearts forever. Celebrate life.

Per Jack's request, no services are planned.

Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
