Donald Carnahan

Donald R. Carnahan, of Glenns Ferry, died in Boise on Dec. 6, 2010, from complications following surgery.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Glenns Ferry, with graveside services following at Glenn Rest Cemetery, Glenns Ferry. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Don was born in Pasadena Valley, Idaho, on Nov. 1, 1933, to Mildred V. and Ralph P. Carnahan.

He attended a one-room grade school in Pasadena Valley for four years before going on to Glenns Ferry schools.

He graduated from Glenns Ferry High School in 1952 where he excelled in school and at sports. He played some fierce football, once scoring five touchdowns in one game.

On April 18, 1952, Don married Donna Rosevear in Glenns Ferry.

He attended the University of Idaho, as did all five of his children.

He and his wife, Donna, returned to Pasadena Valley to farm and ranch for 40 years.

Over the years Don was active on the Glenns Ferry School Board, Lions Club, Idaho Beet Grower's Association, Idaho Cattleman's Association and the Elmore County Historical Society. He served as a director of the King Hill Irrigation District for many years.

Don is survived by: his wife, Donna Carnahan, of Glenns Ferry; his daughter Debrha Carnahan (Bill Dryden) of Boise; his daughter Diane Hansen of Pocatello (Ray Hansen who proceeded him in death, and their children Carley Henderson (Scott) of Tucson, Ariz., and Alex Hansen of Boise); his daughter Deneil Carnahan (Mike Murray and their son Matthew D Carnahan Murray) all of Bellevue, Wash.; his daughter Denice Carnahan of Renton, Wash.; his son Donn Carnahan (Shannon, her son Mitch Laurence and their daughters Mackenzie and Michelle) all of Meridian; his sister Elaine Pachner (Everett) of Santa Maria, Calif.; his sister Marjorie Maxwell of Boise, and his brother-in-law Jack Rosevear (Kay) of Keizer, Ore.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ray Hansen/Don Carnahan scholarship fund, 11555 Whispering Cliffs, Pocatello, Idaho, 83202, to benefit athlete scholars graduating from Glenns Ferry High School and continuing their educations.
