Lorene was born Dec. 31, 1913 in Montpelier, ID. She was the ninth child of fourteen children. Lorene grew up in Montpelier and graduated from high school in 1931. The same year, she married Clifford Hansen on June 20. The lived in Dingle, ID. where Clifford rode the cattle range.

When Clifford went to work for the railroad, they moved to Montpelier. It was there that their five children were born: Doreen, JoAnn, Janet, Kenneth and Paul. In 1944, Clifford and Lorene were married in the temple in Logan, UT.

In 1949, Clifford's job with the railroad took them to Pocatello, ID. and then to Nampa, ID. in 1959. While in Nampa, Lorene decided to go to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She graduated in 1961 and worked for several years as a nurse.

In 1969 they made their final move with the railroad to Glenns Ferry. Clifford retired from the railroad in 1974. During their retirement years they took many trips in their travel trailer. They enjoyed many camping trips with their children and grandchildren.

Clifford passed away on January 20, 1993. In 1996, Lorene moved from Glenns Ferry to Pocatello to be closer to her family.

In 2004, she moved to Boise and lived in an assisted living facility for seniors. The caregivers at the facility would often comment about how much fun Lorene was and even said that she was a real "pistol".

As she was in the hospital the week before she died, she still maintained her sense of humor. Even though she was ill and in a lot of pain she managed to make the staff laugh. One staff member even remarked that she was a hoot.

Lorene passed away on February 20, 2010. She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford and her daughter JoAnn.

Lorene is survived by: her brother, Carl Speirs of St. George, UT; two daughters, Doreen (Don) Arnold of Blackfoot, ID. and Janet (Bill) Poncia of Boise, ID; two sons, Kenneth (Jean) Hansen of Buhl, ID, and Paul (LaDawn) Hansen of Boise, ID.; thirteen grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

We will miss you Lorene very much. We each carry a piece of her with us in our memories and in our hearts. Through the love she unconditionally shared with us all, she will continue to live on.
