Butch was born and raised in Springfield, Ill., to parents Charles and Dorothy Pickett Sr., on Nov. 28, 1941.

He loved nature from the start and was often found in the forest instead of at school. His sisters say he was the best brother.

Butch went into the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17. He enjoyed 23 years of service in several locations including Germany, Thailand, France, Japan, Luxemburg, and the Philippines.

He was proud to be an American.

Butch met Margery while serving in Kansas. He proposed on Halloween and then married his love on Jan. 6, 1968.

He was dedicated to his family: the rock forming the foundation. From playing with his great-grandkids, to fishing with his "boys," to cooking holiday meals with family, to doing memorial services with Post #26, 40/8 Legion Honor Guard, Butch was always busy living. Thatıs how he would want to be remembered.

Butchıs heart and memories are left with: his wife, Margery, of Mountan Home, his daughter Shari and her husband, Bryan Rumple, of Gooding, his son Daniel Pickett of Mountain Home, sisters Donna and her husband, Bill Lewis, of Missouri, and Dorothy and her husband, Lloyd Schoby, of Illinois, grandchildren Bryan (Heather) Rumple, Charles (Kori) Rumple, Meagan (Seth) Niska, great-grandchildren Braxton, Joei, Trinity, Anna, Laura, Ezra, Ozzlynn, and Ellen, and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his extended family Janice (Raymond) OıConnor of Nebraska, Murrel (Kathy) Stevens of Nebraska, Elva Price of Georgia, Ruth (Bill) King of Missouri, Sye (Sherry) Stevens of Arizona, Bonnie Vaughn of North Carolina, Wayne Stevens of Georgia, Helen (John) Matson of Oklahoma, Betty (Don) Minor of Georgia, Laura Brogan of Kansas, and John (Lynette) Stevens of Ohio.

He joins the following family in heaven: his parents Charles and Dorothy Pickett Sr. of Illinois, a son Kenneth of Idaho, a brother Harvey and a sister Carol, both of Illinois, a sister, Mildred, of Arizona, a sister, Mary, of Idaho, a sister, Tammy, of Arizona and numerous aunts and uncles.

Butch requested memorials to the American Cancer Society c/o MISTI, Health Foundation, 190 E. Bannock, Boise, ID 83712, to help find a cure for cancer, so his fight would not be in vain. Donations can also be sent to the American Legion 40/8, P.O. Box 126, Mountain Home, ID 83647. We thank you in advance for honoring him.

The family would also like to thank Horizon Home Hospice for all the care and support.

Husband, dad, grandpa, friend forever in our hearts. Always our hero.
