Vern Orr

Vernice Leon Orr, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 21, 2009, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

He was born October 27, 1910, in Piney, Missouri to William E. Orr and Dessie Robertson Orr. The family moved to Pine, Idaho and then to Glenns Ferry, Idaho where he graduated from Glenns Ferry High School.

On June 2, 1969, he married Grace Vivian Davis-Beasley in Elko, Nevada. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2007. Vern worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of the Elks, Fidelity Lodge #80 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (AFAM), Shriners, and Scottish Rite.

Vern enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, traveling, snowmobiling, training dogs, and cutting firewood. Since his retirement in 1975, he also enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Daughter: Linda M. (Marvin) Geib, Idaho Falls, ID
12 Grandchildren & 28 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Bertha Orr McKeagen.

FUNERAL SERVICES

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon). The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
