Jodie Lee Strickland, 89, of Mountain Home, formerly of Bruneau, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at a local care center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Jodie was born on Sept. 1, 1918, in Red Rock, N.M., the daughter of Richard and Mary Francis Cloudt Bluhm. She attended schools in New Mexico and Eagle, Idaho.

Jodie met Grant Strickland when her car broke down near Grasmere. They were married on Oct. 4, 1936. Together they had four children, Barbara, Dick, Pat and Curt.

She and Grant farmed and ranched in the Bruneau valley. Jodie also worked in Mountain Home for Montgomery Blunk, First Security and The Hub Clothiers.

Her passion in life was work, her family said. "She loved to pull weeds, burn tumbleweeds, build fence, whatever needed to be done on the ranch, she was always there to help."

Jodie is survived by: her son, Dick, and his wife, Linda Strickland; her daughter, Pat, and her husband, Bob Pinkston; her son-in-law, John Cristobal; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant, her daughter, Barb, her son, Curt, and her brothers Stan and Avery Cloudt

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a favorite charity.
