Karen A. Stanek-Kirchhofer, 52, of Mountain Home, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at a local hospital.

A viewing and rosery were held Thursday, Dec.27, and her funeral mass was held Friday, Dec. 28, at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Karen was born Nov. 15, 1955, in the Bronx in New York to Calvin and Mary Stanek. She grew up in Leviton on Long Island, and after moving she graduated from high school in Daytona Beach, Fla.

She was a homemaker until she decided to go back to school to pursue nursing. Karen graduated from the Boise State University nursing program in 1986.

Karen loved to play practical jokes, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren, her family noted.

She is survived by: her father, Calvin Stanek of Mountain Home; her daughters, Kathleen Harrison of Mountain Home, Courtnay and her husband, David Vasser, of Waco, Texas, her son, Evan Kirchhofer of Waco; a daughter in-law, Carrie Tindale of Waco; her brothers, Michael Stanek of California, Robert Stanek of Mountain Home, a sister Maryanne Booth of Mountain Home, and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Stanek, and one grandson.
