Leonard Lambeth, Jr.

Leonard Earl Lambeth, Jr., 49, of Mountain Home, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, peacefully at home with the love of his life, Joyce, by his side.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtery Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Leo was born Aug. 21, 1957, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Barbara and Leonard E. Lambeth, Sr. He lived in California until 1977, when he joined the United States Air Force, allowing Leo to fulfill two of his greatest passions -- traveling the world and serving his country. His career in the military brought him to Mountain Home, before retiring from the service in 1997. "He was honored to have served as a soldier and patriot for the country he held so dearly, and lived the rest of his days as a proud veteran,"his family said.

They added that, "Leo was a loving father to two remarkable boys, Jason and Josh, whose achievements and accomplishments were a constant source of pride. In 1996, he found what most could only dream of, his soul mate Joyce. They were married in July 1998 after two blissful years of courtship. It was during this time that he opened a new world of love and affection, not only to his betrothed, but to all of her family.

"He was a true mentor by demonstrating what it meant to be a loving husband and father, as well as a devoted friend. He will be loved. He will be honored. He will not be forgotten."

Leo's passions included dirt bike riding with his sons, restoring vintage bikes and Ford pickups, and watching the sunset with Joyce and "Harley Dog." He loved the outdoors, spending time with his family, and helping friends in need.

Leo is survived by: his wife, Joyce Lambeth of Mountain Home; his father and mother, Leonard, Sr., and Barbara Lambeth of California; his brother, James Lambeth of California; his sister, Kathy Lambeth of California; his sons, Jason of Arizona and Josh of Mountain Home; his stepson Vince and Vince's wife, Jenny, of Kuna; his stepson Jarod of Boise; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jim and Bea Mitchell, of Payette ; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
