Martha Arlis Yancy, 78, of Mountain Home, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at a local hospital.

A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Idaho Stake Center. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Martha was born on Dec. 17, 1928, in Kerrville, Texas, to Levi and Lillian Mogford.

She moved to New Mexico with her husband in 1941, where her four children were born. The family moved to Alaska in 1979, and then to Idaho in 1997.

Martha was a cook for the University of New Mexico for most of her time in New Mexico. She loved to paint, do crosswords and write poetry.

Martha is survived by: her sons, Duane and his wife, Susan Yancy, of Montana, Bryce and his wife, Melissa Yancy, of New Mexico, and Martin Yancy of California; her daughter, Janis, and her husband, Charles Lesperance, of Mountain Home; her sisters, June Tyree of New Mexico and Nona Faye Holt, both of North Carolina; her brother, Dean Mogford, of New Mexico, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Yancy, both her parents and her brothers Virl and Nolan Mogford.
