Grace Mary Cowie Williamson, 86, formerly of Mountain Home, died Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 2006, following a brief hospital illness.

A memorial service will be conducted in San Antonio, Texas, Friday, Dec. 8. Arrangements are by FuneralCaring, San Antonio, Texas.

She attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Draughons Business College in San Antonio before joining the war effort with Civil Service at the Quartermaster General Depot at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She later studied at the University de Mexico in San Antonio (UNAM), returning frequently for refresher courses.

She and her husband, Callon T. Williamson, were married in Santiago, Chile, where they met while each was assigned to the United States Mission to Chile.

She served as the secretary to the wing Commander at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, until her retirement from Civil Service in 1974.

She was a life-long avid traveler and enjoyed membership in many collector organizations, attending gatherings around the country in addition to cruises with friends to Alaska, the Far East and Panama. "She had a wonderful, bountiful life, full of family and friends with something new always beckoning around the corner," said her family.

She is survived by: her two sons, David Carlton Williwson of San Almio, Texas, Robel T. (Smokey) Williamson of Sequim, Wash.; her sister, Ruth Cowie Buerkle of San Antonio, with whom she lived and traveled for 22 years; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, retired Air Force Sgt. Maj. Carlton T. Williamson, her sister, Florence Cowie Larsen of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and her brother, Robert H. Cowie of Houston, Texas.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Heart Association.
