Faustino "Frosty" Alzola, 88, of Mountain Home, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, with inurnment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Frosty was born on Feb. 15, 1918, in Mountain Home, the second son of Faustino and Eusebia Alzola. He attended schools in Mountain Home, and spent his summers working in his father's livestock business and at several large neighboring ranches in Idaho and Nevada.

In 1941 Frosty was drafted into the Army. He was the first man drafted from Lander County, Nev., and was sent to a cavalry unit at Fort Riley, Kan., for training. He served with the U.S. Remount Service at Fort Reno, Okla., and in the Himalayan Mountains in eastern India, where his unit trained horses and mules, supporting the U.S. forces in the Burma-China-India Theater.

He was discharged in 1946, and joined his brothers, Jim and Arsen, to form the TM Ranch on the Idaho-Nevada border.

Not only was he a master horseman, but he learned to blacksmith and was very mechanically inclined, his family said. He learned to tool leather and made saddles and riding gear too. He was an integral part of the TM operation.

He married Elaine Allen of Boise in 1953. They were later divorced, but remained friends through the years.

Frosty is survived by: his brother, Arsen Alzola of Mayfield, sister in-law Doris Alzola of Mountain Home, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by both parents, four brothers and one sister.
