'Krash' Krajniak, 46

Brian "Krash" L. Krajniak, 46, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at a Boise hospital, following a brief battle with cancer. His family was at his side.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Brian was born June 16, 1959, the son of Philip and Jane Krajniak in Alpena, Mich. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1977.

He entered the Air Force in 1981 where "his love of country and his fellow airmen led him to accept and excel at many difficult tasks assigned to him," his family said. "He left a lasting impression, not only in all his peers, but also on everyone he touched in his life."

Among his military tasks he was assigned two tours in the Gulf War Conflict, and a tour in Iceland. Upon his completion of his Icelandic tour, Krash was given the opportunity of choosing any base worldwide, but "his love of the area brought him back to Mountain Home," his family noted.

Upon retirement from active duty as a master sergeant in 2003, he chose to continue serving his country by working at Mountain Air Force Base as a member of the Civil Service.

While stationed in Mountain Home in 1993, Krash began dating Magdalena "Magga" Olafsdottir, and they were married on June 23, 1995.

Brian is survived by: his wife, Magga, and a son, Brian, both of Mountain Home; a daughter, Telma, and her husband, Dave Lantz, of Kuna; a son, Hogni, and his wife, Audrey Gudmundsson, of Bend, Ore.; his mother and father, Philip and Jane Krajniak; brothers Gerald and his wife, Janice Krajniak, Richard and his wife, Jan Ellen Krajniak, Alan and his wife, Sally Krajniak, Glenn and his wife, Vicki Krajniak, and Paul Krajniak, as well as several nieces and nephews.
