Steve "Okie" Kenyon, 54, of Boise, formerly of Mountain Home, died at his home Saturday March 11, 2006, after battling cancer.

Steve was born April 24, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the third boy to Harlan and Dora Kenyon. In 1965 Steve's family moved to Idaho and "he knew he was home when he saw the mountains and the rivers," his family said.

He graduated in 1969 from Mountain Home High School.

For over 28 years he worked for Idaho Power as a lineman.

"Throughout his life, Steve has been at home in nature with a great love of fishing, camping, and hunting. A true kid at heart, Steve was loved by all who knew him," his family said.

He is survived by: his wife, Sharon Kenyon; his children, Kelli Kenyon of Boise, Katelyn Kenyon of Boise, Josh Smith of Boise, Breanna Smith of Cleveland, and Shannon Blanchard of Eugene; a granddaughter; his mother, Dora Kenyon of Oklahoma: a brother and spouse, Ron and Jo Kenyon of Oklahoma; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Kenyon, and his brother Eddie Kenyon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke's MISTI cancer center.
